Decent clean hotel, with a very good location. A high quality restaurant off the lobby. The room was OK, but it was pretty warm when we were there and the air-conditioning barley keeps up. I can't understand the European aversion to decent air-conditioning. I guess Europeans don't mind being "ripe". In any event, I would recommend the hotel at any time in the year when you are unlikely to have hot weather. By the way, all of the five star ratings given by other readers baffle me. In the states this would be an average Holiday Inn quality hotel, but it seems in Europe a clean room with a decent bathroom and air-conditioning (even if it barely keeps up) warrants five stars..

We stayed here after booking flights and the hotel through BA on a special deal, and then I saw all the fab reviews on here! We found all of the reception staff were exceptionally friendly and the glass of champagne on arrival - especially when you turn up at 11am a perfect start to the weekend! We stayed for 3 nights and ate in the hotel restaurant the first night and the food was beautiful! They didn't have a long list of cocktails though...
Our room was a superior which was really spacious, and on a lovely quiet street. The metro is just around the corner and you can purchase the metro passes directly from the hotel. Heroes square, opera house, lots of shops etc are all within easy walking distance too. We used the shuttle bus from the airport - turned up within 5 minutes and we are the only passengers, and the hotel ordered a Zona taxi for us on the way back - both cost the same and are very similar. It is about 30 mins from the airport.
There are so many restaurants within walking distance. We particularly liked Goa, an international restaurant with funky decor. We also went to the Belcanto restuarant with the singing waiters and Hungarian food but thought it was a bit gimmicky.
Be warned though, food is cheaper than London but still reasonably pricey. However we ate very tasty food!
Tip: We did a cruise down the river on the third day after walking for hours and it made a lovely change and we learned lots about the history of the city.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights, making my booking directly via the hotel. Though the hotel is located approx. a 15 to 30 minute walk from the start of the main city centre and then onto the Danube, there is a metro station about a minutes walk away from the hotel. The hotel's reception sells tickets for the Metro that worked out to be only approx. EUR1 per journey. So it’s cheap and it was very easy to use. That being said the walk into the city centre is a nice one. The hotel is located in a nice area, though I couldn't see a lot of restaurants nearby. So most nights I ate in town and then walked dinner off on the journey back to the hotel. My room was not bad, very clean, a very comfortable bed and nicely fitted out. My only complaint was that it was quite small. OK if you are by yourself but perhaps a bit "cosy" if there was a couple. Some rooms appeared to either front onto the Andrassy Ave (a busy thorough fare) or look over the hotel's outside bar area, so I am not sure how quiet these rooms would be. That being said my room was very quiet. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. My only other complaint and it’s a minor one and that was the breakfast. There was a reasonable selection and all pretty fresh but at EUR20 it did seem a bit over priced and given the hotel's location, not a lot of alternatives about. All in all a great stay and well recommended.

We stayed ate the Andrassy with a group of 25 people and we were worried that they might not be able to cope with so many all at once. Our fears soon disappeared when we saw them handle everything very smoothly. A glass of sparkling wine greeted us at reception as we booked in and the room we were given (407) was spacious, clean and well appointed. Good sized bathroom, towelling robes, and a lovely balcony to sit out on. Breakfast was brilliant and just the job. They even made me fried eggs on request. Staff very friendly and efficient. We never tried the restaurant so cannot comment but we did go to the restaurant directly across the road which was unbeleivably brilliant and highly recommend. Mini bar in the room very expensive (?3 for bottle of 330cl water) so advise not to use. We took our own travel kettle which was a bonus as there are no facilities in the room.
The hotel is situated about 1 mile or so from the river Danube which is easily reached via a quaint subway system.Thoughrouly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again
