seedy place

Just returned from a good week end in Ostend with 40 females.Pity i can`t say the same for the hotel.I agree with the London trip advisor that was there nov 1st 2005.We also found filthy smelly rooms,no windows to see out of as they were all pink&green frosted glass squares. Looking at some staff & seeing them in the bars all over men like a rash, it did appear that the rooms could have been rented out by the hour.Well i definatly will not visit the hotel again. There was even a female tramp sleeping on the corridor of the 3rd floor, which was very frightning.
Disgusting

I actually struggle to find anything good about this hotel. My FILTHLY room and the disgusting smell were amoungst the numerous factors why I checked out and found alternative accomadation. This "Hotel" can at best be described as a backpacker hostel or at worst the type of place where rooms may be rented by the hour!! The reception staff were awful and extremely unhelpful. The best advice I can give is to not stay here - it most certainly is not a 3 star hotel and is most certainly not value for money.
basic rooms, but great staff

I stayed here for a weekend getaway in November 2004. The rooms were a bit of a disappointment, because they were very basic, with nothing fancy. But the bathroom worked perfectly fine, and the room was also spotlessly clean - so nothing to complain about that. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The bar area is simple but cosy, and breakfast was also the standard continental, but OK, too. Location is ecellent. Just a few minutes' walk from the port area with lots of fish-restaurants, and do make sure to visit the small restaurant (Spinnekorb or something) in the place just round the corner - it is excellent good value with the typical Belgium hearty hospitality - and the waiters never forget to make a joke.
Great value, good location.

We are a family with two kids aged six and 17 months and principally we chose the hotel for the low price and its central location and we were not disappointed by either.
We had a triple room with a cot and although it was not massive we did not feel overcrowded. The room was clean and our sheets were changed during our stay.
Staff were eager to help and very polite, we brought some milk for the toddler and they kept it in their fridge and heated it up for us on request.
Breakfast was basic but in good quantities. During our stay our 17-month old cried for an hour or so in the middle of the night but we did not experience the problems the writer from Sheffield had.
I liked the area the hotel was in, slightly scruffy but on the up and on the edge of a trendy, designer part of the city. The area seemed friendly and safe that was best illustrated by the local children playing sports on the street, which my son joined in with. The hotel was only a short walk from the tourist attractions so we didn’t need to bother with taxis, buses or trams. The hotel is also walking distance (20 mins) to Gare Midi and the Eurostar terminal.
Overall this was a good value hotel which, given Brussels hotel prices are expensive, did what was required of it. We would definitely stay there again.
Nice hotel, bad location

This was a nice hotel, and the staff was friendly.
However, it was in a rough part of Brussels, and we felt a little unsafe walking back to our hotel after dark.
