I am normally fairly easy and dont complain much...but what boils my blood is if someone advertizes for a 5 star hotel and charges you with it and only provides a 3 star quality service/hotel
although brialliantly located, the staff were arrogant and i might say quite unhelpfull. rude as well. the breakfast is ok, but once again suited for a 3 star rather than a 5 star.
rooms are ok, ac is horribly messed up, lights dont work.
advice: go for the sites if you want to stay there and nothing else
great advice: do not eat in the hotel.....there this place call restaurant L'EUROPA: BEST ITALIAN FOOD EVER....NO KIDDING. It is literally opposite the bar duomo

I had booked a jr. suite at almost $500 night and a classic room for around $200 less for my inlaws - well, our room was not much bigger than my in laws'. I complained at the front desk and the clerk had nothing to say other than the building was an old manor and the room size was limited as a result. That didn't explain how my room could not possibly be the one described on the website (room for 4 to sleep when our room barely had room for the bed in it and a cot they set up for my niece). Because the room had been prepaid and, according to them, they couldn't give us a credit direcly, they offered us a free dinner in their restaurant - which was ridiculously overpriced. The rooms were okay, but not 5 star by any stretch of the imagination.

Stayed for one night--our room was very, very, very small, particularly for a five star hotel and at a tariff of 320 Euros a night! It was almost like being in a closet--not what we expected for booking a double deluxe room!! Breakfast in the garden was very nice--excellent buffet choices and 2 chefs on standby in case you wanted eggs. Unfortunately, we chose to eat in the hotel restaurant. What a ripoff! Service was five star--food was not, and we paid 150 Euros for 3 glasses of wine, 1 starter, 2 pasta dishes and some gelato! Outrageous! Five star prices, two star food. We've stayed in many five star hotels in Europe at this price level, and expected this to be of similar standards. It was not!

This hotel is not what you would expect from the 5 star rating. Dinner in the restaurant was very overpriced and we felt tricked on some of the charges. 10 euro service charge for bread! written in small print at the end of the menu. Much higher prices than most good restaurants in Italy without exceptional quality. They don't give you a wine list unless you ask and we and the people next to us just asked the waiter for a glass of good local wine. Mistake.
The hotel staff was nice to us but the overall feeling of the hotel was a bit dusty and dirty. The location is excellent for visiting the tower and cathedral if you have limited time as it is a short walk.
