This hotel was a beautiful location within the Tuscany area to make day trips to other cities, but the hotel was disappointing. The grounds were beautifully kept, and the views were amazing, but the room itself was dark and needed a face lift. The service was a 3 on scale of 10. The staff was overworked and did not seem happy to be there. The food was delicious, although the dinner menu was overcomplicated and pricey. If the rooms and bathrooms were a bit updated and the service upgraded, this hotel could be a "world's leading hotel." We enjoyed taking a cooking class that was taught by a local chef (the women were so gracious!) I should also mention that our trip was booked by a travel agent and a few days before arriving we saw it available on hotels.com for $100 less a night!

Wedding reception Heaven

This was the first destination of a three part stay in Italy. This section of my holiday was for my sister-in-law's wedding which was held in Cortona town hall and was magnificent.
The Reception for the wedding was held at the Hotel, which catered for it magnificently.
The Corte del Sole is one of the most stunning rural hotels I have stayed in. The room was like a single storey cottage. It was a suite of three rooms, beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished. The hotel stretches over a number of ancient, characterful, and well loved buildings. The pool area is excellent. The breakfasts are amazing, and the restaurant food heavenly.
The staff are exceptionally friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
There are some lovely restaurants in the area.
We stayed for four nights for a wedding, its build-up and a day to wind down. If this was a week long holiday, either hire a car to see the beauty of the area, or bring a suitcaseful of books to read by the pool.
One 'fly in the ointment' is that there isn't a bar to sit at in the evenings.
Highly recommended.

Wedding in the orangerie

A piece of heaven on earth! We were so lucky to have our wedding in the orangerie in the garden at the relais late of May this year. Everything was perfect! The service included everything from setting the tables to sleeping in one of their beautiful and unique suites! we choose to arrange our own flowers and music, but everything else was in the best of hands! The food was excellent, especially the hour d`ours that just kept on coming and coming (until we almost became full before the dinner) and the best cake we ever tasted; the millefoglie wedding cake! You have to try it instead of a tasteless traditional wedding cake! The surroundings were fantastic with wide acres and not least, the smell of roses that drifted over the hole relais. May is a fantastic month to get married in Tuscany, since the flowers are at it`s most beautiful. The day was followed by an outdoor breakfast by the pool (or if you prefer it outside the suite) that also tasted heavenly and relaxations at the premises. The staff were wonderful and professionals. You really felt like a royalty. A hot american moviestar ,who has a house in Italy, has also been a guest. A picture of him smiled at us from the piano in the orangerie. Need I say more...
