Stayed for 2 nights in June. Overall good experience.
Pros: Compact and intimate. Rooms looked recently refurbished. Excellent matress and sleep. Free wi-fi. Desk service was very good and responsive. Breakfast was just right, healthy and fresh. Location is superb, with close access to the trains, very short walking distance to the waterside, and city center, and an abundance of restraunts, bars and shops in the neighbourhood.
Cons: Bathroom is too small (why do hotels insist on baths, which most guests rarely use, rather than install showers only?), my room was on the 6th floor, while the elevator gets only up to the 5th, so this may be a problem for older guests or those carrying a lot of luggage.
Overall, at the right price this hotel is a great place to stay, and certainly better than staying at the expensive, impersonal hotel chains.

Our family stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. Our daughters were happy with the roll out couch and cot and we loved the large, clean bedroom. Very lovely touches in the living room area (where the children slept), beautiful Swedish bookcase and lots of books about Swedish design under the glass topped desk. The room was very quiet. The location is excellent, the breakfasts were great. We watched a movie in our bedroom and relaxed after walking, what I consider to be Europe's most beautiful city. The hotel was part of a spectacular family vacation.

I'll make a short one;
- great location, in the middle of ?stermalm
- nice lobby area, friendly welcome
- great room, spacious, equipped with workout video and weights, flatscreen tv, a very delicate bathroom and a perfect balcony.
- the sushi store right across the street is great!
- the breakfast/fireplaceroom/library is very cosy, have a glass of wine there before going out
- we had the hotel almost to ourselves! It seemed like it was not very popular, although I have no idea why.
- the breakfast buffet was also super, with lots of healthy choices, as well as the traditional eggs and bacon.

I stayed at this hotel in January of 2007. I was in Stockholm for work, and the hotel was chosen by work colleagues, so I do not have the benefit of knowing how the prices compared to other hotels in the city. I was extremely happy with the choice of Hotel Riddargatan.
The location is excellent. I was able to walk to everything, with the exception of my work meeting which was in another hotel about a 15 minute cab ride away. A good location is key in Stockholm because taxis are very expensive. From Riddargatan it was about a 10 minute walk to Old Town, or Galma Stan – well worth a visit; Rick Steves has an excellent self guided walking tour that takes about 45 minutes in his Scandinavia tour book. It was about the same distance to Skansen, and about a 15 minute walk to the Galleria (sp?) shopping center and the main shopping strip (Drottignan? I’m sure I’m spelling this wrong).
There are many restaurants also nearby; Italiano across the street from the hotel was excellent.
The hotel itself is very nice, and very modern. The front desk staff is very friendly and spoke impeccable English. There is a computer in the lobby with internet access (no charge), or there is also free wireless available throughout the hotel – just ask for a code from the front desk.
The room I had was clean, with a small refrigerator, a flat screen TV (received 12 channels, many in English), and 2 chairs. The bed was quite large, but it was one large box spring with 2 twin type mattresses on top, made up individually. Each mattress had it’s own comforter. This was fine for me, as I was traveling alone, but I imagine a couple would want to ensure the bed was made up as one bed.
The bathroom was modern and clean. The shower was great – there was a big cascading type shower head and also a smaller handheld one with more pressure, although the overhead one offered plenty. There was a full size, normal hairdryer in the bathroom, shampoos, lotion, and soap, but bring your own conditioner as this was not supplied.
Breakfast was included and was good; there was coffee, juices, bread, jams, meats, cheeses, cereal, and mueslix. There were also scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes.
There were a couple negatives – the room was quite hot, and there was no way to control the heat. The street outside wasn’t noisy, but wasn’t quite quiet enough to leave the window open (voices from pedestrians carried up). When I asked if anything could be done, the front desk supplied a fan, which helped, but they couldn’t turn down the heat. The floor to the bathroom was heated, and closing the bathroom door helped as well. The bathroom door was sliding, and when closed, only a thin, see through curtain hid the glass of the shower wall from the room, not allowing for privacy.
I saw no evidence of the worn carpeting or construction referenced by previous posters, so that must be complete.
Overall, Hotel Riddargatan was a great choice and I would definitely stay there again. The location can't be beat.

Stayed there on a tour. Location is outstanding. Room was ok, though it had a funky smell from the drains. The reimbursed half the rate because of that. Impossible to reach with busses/trucks.Staff was nice and helpfull. Breakfast ok.
