Coming from Los Angeles and having booked this as part of a tour it was interesting to have a hotel called Beverly Hills. I felt I had to respong to some other reviewers of this hotel. I had none of the noise mentioned. And whether the room was small or large didn't affect me. I am a tourist and here to see Rome, not sit in a plush hotel. A couple guests and I walked comfortably throughout all of Rome's attractions in a very enjoyable "loop" stopping for lunch mid-day around the Pantheon/Trevi fountain area. At the end we had tired legs ad opted for an easy taxi ride back to he hotel, about ten minutes and only about $6 each. The meals we had in-house were fine and the bar was nice and relaxing. While the roms we had were probably on their lower-end since it was booked as a group tour. But ike I said, we were there to see Rome, not the hotel.

I just stayed at the Grand Hotel Beverly Hills. I read some of the other reviews and I think this hotel is unfairly rated by many people. First of all, in Europe, people walk places! Yes, the hotel is a little outside the city walls, but a taxi ride is as easy as asking the excellent concierge staff. And walking around is part of the experience of being in Europe. Gee, I wonder why Americans are so heart attack prone. And yes, the bathrooms are smaller than many are used to. My room was adequate size with fresh sheets daily and a bathroom floor you could eat off. Yes, It was noisy from traffic... welcome to Rome! I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. They bent over backwards to speak English and help me with anything I wanted. When I was checking out, they ran downstairs to bring me a pair of jeans I accidentally left behind. The bartender in the lobby bar even made me a special salad when I told him I was a vegetarian couldn't decide what to eat. The breakfast was ok... nothing great. The meals were skimpy, but remember, people around the world do not eat the giant portions of food we are used to. I lost 5 pounds in 6 days from eating healthy portions and walking places! Great vacation and warm, sweet people everywhere in the nice neighborhood. I liked it and I would stay there again if I go back to Rome.

My Girlfriend booked this Hotel as a surprise Rome break for my 30th Birthday. We are from the UK and managed to get from Luton airport to the Rome airport without any problems. Once at the airport we took the shuttle bus for 6 Euro's which dropped us at the Termini station which is in the center of Rome within 30 mins. This is where the problems started.
Our travel agent advised us that the hotel was central to the attractions which in my books means that you can leave the hotel room and you are near the major attractions within 10 mins walk.
After reading the instructions provided by the Hotels web-site we took the Bus recommended to the hotel . If you are not familiar with the busses in Rome you basically have to pay for the amount of time you are intending to be on the bus , or you can by a 3 day pass. You don’t pay any money on the bus , you have to get the tickets from the tobacco shop near the station. We boarded the Bus number as instructed by the Hotel instructions.
Basically the bus has no information onboard to show you which stop it is at , or where you are on the route it is taking , The
hotel instructions state "after 10-15 mins you should be outside the hotel" which is pretty useless as you are in a city which you have never been to before so who knows where you are ment to get off. After 15 mins we were well outside of the center , and then to our horror the bus driver pulled up someplace and switched of the engine to have his lunch ! We asked several people on board (including the driver) if they knew where the hotel was , and they hadn't even heard of the name of the road that the hotel was on !!. We were really starting to panic that we had booked someplace that may not even exist ! 90 mins later of wasted time we were back at the termini station where we started and reluctant to get on another bus! We walked round Rome and found a tourist info desk and handed the lady the hotel address and her response in basic English was that the hotel was "not within walking distance" She gave us a map and circled where we were and then where the hotel was and that’s when you find out that really this hotel is not near any
of the main attractions. She advised us to take the Bus 190 and get of at the ville bourghese and then walk the rest of the way. So basically you are back on a very busy bus and keeping your eyes peeled to try and see where you are. Thankfully the ville bourghese is fairly easy to spot and we got of the bus. Then a 10 minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel.
if you do wish to stop at this hotel then please take my advice if you haven’t been to Rome before. Pay 8 Euros and get a taxi to the hotel from the termini station. Its worth it to save you the time and stress.
The hotel itself was Okay , apart from the bathroom . I though the other reviews on here about the bathroom being small were people being picky.. But it is small. The biggest issue was the shower , a very small tray with a hot and cold tap that you have to mix just right. The problem is that its so small you keep hitting the taps with your arms and then you are quickly jumping out as you are getting either froze or burnt. Also the water doesn’t stay in the cubicle and I had to keep using a towel to mop
the floor as it was flooded with water.
Would I stop here again, No .. I would book something in the center or near the termini station. The problem is at night you are constantly thinking about getting back to the hotel and you have to leave the city to make sure you can get the bus back . You can’t pop back and forth during the day its to far . We walked back from the coliseum one night and it took 2 hours! Also when in Rome you want to explore, we spent basically 12PM to 6AM in the hotel and that was it , an expensive bed. Next time I would just get a cheap B&B as you don’t go to Rome for stopping in the hotel all day anyhow.
If I was in the UK i would rate this as 2 stars.. Rome is amazing , don't hesitate to go , just stop somplace in the centre !!!

With hindsight, the pretentious name "Grand Hotel Beverly Hills" should have rung alarm bells, no doubt named to attract US visitors.
The hotel website is misleading, it gives an impression of an upmarket hotel in a sophisticated area with fabulous interiors frequented by the rich and famous; oh dear, this couldn't be further from the truth. The location is a scruffy northern suburb with little or no decent bars or restaurants anywhere nearby (1 star).
The hotel stands on the junction of one of the main routes out of Rome which means the traffic noise is incessant and even for the heaviest sleeper is difficult to sleep through. There are 4 large bottle banks right outside the front door which people seemingly use 24 hours a day. If you're looking for a rest forget it (1 star).
Typical taxi fair from the centre (Piazza Navona area) is 12 Euros - you will need taxis, it's not a pleasant walk and i'm a walker by preference. We arrived with bags and neither concierge moved from their desk to help although they were happy to wait for a tip having showed us where the room was (that bit we could manage ourselves 1 star).
The only way to describe the room (apart from giving us a twin instead of a double) is tired. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever experienced, the toliet ran continuously and the shower would cut the cold mix intermittently resulting in scalding (0 stars).
The general decor was poor with paint having been stripped from wood and then left, the Sky TV facility didn't work and the windows didn't shut properly making the road noise worse. On the plus side the room make up each day was done well (1 star).
We had paid for breakfast in advance and used it once - all cold (including the eggs) after that we ate out (1 star).
We were there for 4 nights and I will never go near the place again or the location - there are far better hotels far closer to the city centre for better money and far better service - my advice is stay away.
On any scale this is no better than a 2 star establishment.

We stayed in this hotel from Feb 5 until Feb 8, 2008. Originally, we had booked from Feb 4 through the hotel's Internet site. Prior to commenting our stay, I think it is worth mentioning the way the hotel's personnel dealt with a problem of our reservation, which, I have to stress, was their own fault. In a few words, once we made the reservation we received a confirmation number which we presented before them upon our arrival. Well, they said they were full on that day (Monday, Feb 4), though there was no problem with the rest days of our reservation, and offered to arrange a stay for only one day at a close-by hotel named Albani at the same price (110 euros). They also paid for the taxi back and forth the other hotel (next to the Villa Albani), so in my view they corrected in a professional way their misdoing.
The room was comfortable and clean and they changed the sheets on a daily basis. I have to underline, though, that the windows soundproofing is very poor, because of the old-fashioned frames, and every noise coming from the traffic of the road in front of the hotel can, unfortunately, be perfectly heard (at times, we even thought the windows were open, only to find they weren't!). The telephone device was not working and we had to tell them twice before finding out that they fixed it. The breakfast was equivalent to a three star hotel and did not justify the rating of a four-star hotel as they claim they are.
Another significant point is the location of the hotel. Well, many reviewers on this board maintained that Beverly Hills is away from the main attractions. Although this is true, please take into account that within walking distance (100 meters, in Via Po) there is a bus stop from which one can go virtually everywhere. More specifically, to go to the Termini (central terminal station) simply use either 86 or 92; for the historical center get in the bus 63. The ticket costs one euro, is valid for 75 minutes for both bus and metro and can be obtained from all the tobacco shops which are countless and can be found in almost every street of Rome (watch out, though; they close at sunset). If you like walking, bear in mind that Via Venetto is approximately 15 minutes away. Therefore, my conclusion is that there is absolutely no problem with the location of the hotel; the only drawback is the fact that the bus and metro both stop at about 1130 to 1200 p.m. When this happened, we walked and it took us about 20 to 25 minutes to go from Trevi fountain to the hotel. Though it was late at night, both the carabinieri and the municipality police presence made us feel safe.
In case you want to eat in some place near the hotel, there are many tratorias and restaurants but we found that the Casa Mia Ristorante had no match; it is conveniently located in Via Simeto only 50 (yes fifty) meters away from the hotel's entrance: once you get out just make a left and again left and you are there.
I hope this has been helpful.
