Me and my partner have stayed at this hotel twice. The only thing i can agree with in the bad reviews about this hotel is the dated decor, but surely the colour of the wallpaper isnt what you went there for.
The service is always good.
The staff are polite and will help you however they can.
The food in the resturant is pricey but no more than you would expect in a 5 star hotel.
The location is excellent being right next to the metro.
Our stays at the hotels have been brilliant and WE WILL BE STAYING THERE AGAIN.
Some tips-
Dont be afriad to use the metro it is really simple and really cheap.
Visit Momabar (come out of the hotel turn left its just round the corner) its really sophisticated and trendy they serve a tapas type menu.
If you do use the metro to Sol get off at Tribunal turn left out of the exit and walk the rest of the way as you will discover some brilliant shops.
When you are in Sol beware of pick pockets!
Enjoy your stay we did we got back today!!

Not impressed

I'm a business traveler and stayed at Miguel Angel Hotel to be closer to attractions. That perhaps, is the best thing about the hotel, the location. It's convenient to the metro and within walking distance (long walk) to central attractions. However, my room was seedy; stained/worn carpeting and furniture...rather depressing. The hotel restaraunt was pricey and the fare nothing special. The lounge is dark and the furniture a bit lumpy and worn looking. Again, just this side of seedy. Breakfast was average but the price was high. The staff was somewhat friendly and sometimes helpful. I won't stay there again and won't recommend it to my business traveling colleagues.

Dear friends,
I am a journalist and I have just spent 10 days in Madrid, invited by the Spanish Embassy of Buenos Aires to cover the Cibeles Fashion Week.
During all this period, I was lodged in the Miguel Angel Hotel and everything was great until the last day of my stay. I even wanted to write a good comment of this place.
I have been robed in my room! 200 Euros! And I was not the only one of the first floor of this 5 stars hotel! A colleague of Venezuela and a cameraman of Fashion TV too!
We all claimed to the director but he just explained to us that he had no responsibility and that the only person who went to the room was the housekeeper and that she had all his trust.
What to you think about that! She was the only person to access to the room but she hasn’t taken anything!
I spent a long time with this man in his office, complaining, nervous and really upset and…… just go home and leave me in peace with your stories! Don’t go to this hotel; if you have a problem, they do not assume it!

Nice Hotel

I have stayed at this hotel several times. The good points for me are that the hotel is right beside an underground station. Also, the staff have always been very friendly when i have stayed here. I find the cafe in the foyer area to be extremely comfy and a nice place to meet colleagues or simply to read the papers. Also, the hotel is relatively quiet because it is not in the heart of the city centre but it is also only 10 minutes from the city centre as it has an underground station so close.
The poor points for me (for a 5 star hotel) are the decor and rooms which are a little dated. Also, the TV system is old and not really the best.
Hope that helps, I've been in this place 3 or 4 times (so that tells you that i think it's pretty good) mostly because of the location and the nice ambience.
