Hotel Humboldt sent 7/18/08 (HonzaLosAngeles) We recently stayed at this hotel. Our original reservation was for four days. At check-in, even though we reserved a regular double room, we were told that our room was too tiny, and for an additional 20 Euros we could get a "regular room". I declined and from that point things only got worse. I immediately changed our reservation from four days to two. We were ushered to a closet sized room. The next day some articles of clothing were missing from our luggage. We reported it and a big investigation conducted personally by the "Managing Director" of the hotel ensued. Our luggage was searched twice, with the suggestion that apparently we ourselves took the stuff. The busy "Managing Director" of the hotel spent more than three hours "solving this problem", while constantly threatening us that he will call the police, which of course, we welcomed but somehow he was reluctant to do so. Finally in the late afternoon, after we missed the last connection to a different city we were traveling to to meet friends, the police were called and even though I speak Czech fluently, nobody bothered to talk to me, the three policemen spent their valuable time talking to the director and left. Of course the hotel had an imprint of my credit card, which I refused to sign since nothing was solved and our schedule was messed up and we incurred additional expenses. Since we missed last train, we had to go to a different hotel in Karlovy Vary and left next day, of course we had to pay for the unnecessary extra day stay and also for the hotel in our next destination even though we never got there. To recommend this hotel? Hardly.

This is a gorgeous hotel renovated within the last year or so. Rooms are big, bright, airy and beautifully decorated and the breakfast is very good. The staff needs a bit of training up and the centralized computer reservation system could use a bit of work, but the spa, room and ambiance more than made up for several faux pas.

It is a good 4-star hotel. Nice building and lobby, comfortable room., pleasant spa for 8 euro a day. We were pleased.

The trip from Prague airport was super easy by bus and relatively cheap too. Only 1 1/2 hours! The room we booked was a deluxe and when we arrived in the unbelievalby small room we realized we were in the room by error. When my husband spoke with the staff (in Russian because it is pretty much a second language here) they asked him why he didn't point it out when checking in. We are accustomed to the hotel knowing what we booked, not trying to cheat us out of what we booked. They then said that they did not have any deluxe rooms, so we ended up in a Suite. That was the wonderful part. On check out we were charged 24 euros for parking. We didn't even have a car and felt once again as if they were trying to cheat us. Overall this was a nice place to stay in a great location, but with the two issues we had with them relating to our reservations and bill we most likely wouldn't do that again!
