Stayed here on business, so I have no comment on its "value for money". As a hotel, the staff are not customer focused, and although the hotel has some "charm" (and is clean), I found the room on the top floor with its sloping interior ceiling (not for anyone over 4 feet tall) to be ultimately unsatisfactory. Breakfast basic, but relatively decent. Decent sized bathroom.

This hotel has a reputation for being elegant and luxurious, which I though would be a perfect finish to a week spent in hostels and on friends' couches.
There is a lot of cheap brass and marble around, but this place is not at all luxurious. The once grand hotel is run down with unfriendly staff and terrible food. It's really the worst food of our whole trip, served in a basement on plastic tablecloths.
The staff didn't help us get our luggage up the stairs -- in fact there was no staff in sight at the door, which is probably why they have a problem with theft inside the hotel. If you have to put up "beware of pickpockets" sign in an expensive hotel perhaps it's time to invest in a security guard.
On the positive side, the rooms are large with big bathtubs (though both were a little dirty -- hair in the tub upon check-in). The wireless internet is easy and free but drops out every few minutes.

I visited Copenhagen for business (April 2007) together with my colleagues and stayed at Phoenix Copenhagen – a central located hotel. When I was checking in the staff were pretty slow, though they were several persons (some of them did not really pay any attention to us at all).
The room was large and well-equipped with a queen size bed, a desk with chair and additional table with chairs. The bathroom has a tub and everything was neat and tidy. Unfortunately, the hair dryer was broken, and I reported the issue. Within 10 minutes one of the staff took a look of the issue, since I checked in late at night the staff could not repaired it immediately and waited to tomorrow.

My wife and I stayed at The Hotel Phoenix in Copenhagen on May 20-22. We booked a non-smoking room with a king size bed and received a beautiful modernized room with a courtyard view. Having never been to Copenhagen (it was the last stop on our European Cruise), we wanted a hotel that was within walking distance of key sites (Tivoili, Nyhavn, Little Mermaid Statue). We were not dissappointed, this hotel is at the center of everything, including the World Famous Ida Davidson's Restaurant (which we strongly recommend as well). Additionally, it is well situated to both The Port and Airport. Staff were friendly, helpful, and steered us to the best places for Exchange Rates, Food, and Transportation (to Airport). Their package included a FABULOUS breakfast that would have cost us an additional $30 per person. daily....your dollar doesn't go far in Copenhagen.

I stayed at the Phoenix on a business trip.
The hotel has an excellent location (only 200 meters to the main place in Copenhagen). It's an older hotel with an exclusive interior decoration. The standard rooms are somewhat small, but lovely decorated. The bathroom is a bit old and small, too, but okay.
I got a reduced price of about 170 Euros/ night. For that price it was a good deal for Copenhagen, but I wouldn't pay more than 200-250 Euros (breakfast excluded)
