We (fan mom, two daughters & pal) booked here because of its proximity to the L. A. Convention Center and two bathrooms--a necessity for four females, three of which were cosplayers. Our convention price was $149 but taxes added another $20.96 and parking is $30/night. Room decor was average but clean; housekeeping iffy--forgot washcloths one day and not enough glasses another. No in-room coffee. Lots of very hot water and no problems w/water pressure. Free wi-fi very slow!
If you don't want to pay for the expensive hotel breakfast, there is an IHOP at 8th and Flower; also the famous Pantry, owned by former mayor Riordan, is one block away.
Hotel was built in the 1950's as the Stadler Hilton--a hot spot for Hollywood glitterati. According to an engineering staff person, it is now owned by the Hanjin Group, which also owns Korean Air.
Biggest plus is the very friendly & helpful staff, despite the weirdly attired Anime Expo guests!

The bathday room is small and dirty. Nothing in the room works.
The nightstand lamp falled apart. Internet access is very slow about 1 Mbps. This is for $195 / night.

I stayed here for 6 nights while attending a convention in LA. This hotel was not my choice; the conference organizers were paying my way and that is where they put me. I had read on Trip Advisor that this hotel was problematic and I was not looking forward to it. Let's say that I now refer to the place as the Wilshire not so Grand.
My room was boring and very 80s with one of those icky polyester bedspreads and a thin blanket. The bathroom was clean but very dated. And there was NO hot water. And the water pressure was non-existent which is okay I guess if you have to have a cold shower every single day of your stay.
I never did manage to get internet access in my room. The hotel fitness centre was hotter than hell but fortunately as a hotel guest (or prisoner) one can go across the street to a large Gold's Gym which was great.
I had breakfast in the City Grille twice - expensive and just okay. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly however.
Many conference attendees that I spoke to were equally disappointed. Especially the person who was bitten by BED BUGS.
On the plus side: there was a Kinkos' close by where I could check my email. There were also two Starbucks very close by. And a couple of decent restaurants. But that is about that.

We were here for a work conference and hotel was booked for us. I was wary after reading reviews. We were supposed to get a room with two bathrooms, told they were all gone before we checked in, someone else in our group checked a half hour later and got one.
We were on executive floor and breakfast food gone when I got there at 6:55 am. Breakfast goes from 6:30 til 10a. Trash all over room from people just leaving dishes out. Hotel staff came in and out but didn't feel a need to clean it up. Made them aware at front desk and clerk was very indifferent. Room was SMALL, Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express rooms are bigger. Bathroom TINY, ok cleanliness. However the one nice thing about the room was the COMFORTABLE bed. Made it hard to get going in the morning.
Housekeeping very inconsistent. Bar area was nice. Overall I'd give this a 3.5 out of 10.
