Very Nice Stay - Service Hit or Miss

I stayed here for a little less than a week, and I had a very nice stay although the service was a little bit hit or miss - some people were truly excellent and went out of their way to help, and a couple were singularly unhelpful.
Most of the staff at the hotel are very nice, with a couple of exceptions. The bartender at the bar in the lobby was really friendly and helpful - when my group wanted daiquiris and they were out of strawberries, he actually hunted some down for us! However, when we called to inquire about the wireless, someone at the front desk gave us misleading information about billing and who would be charged if two people were sharing a room. The gift shop lady was also pretty dour and unhelpful.
In terms of accommodations and location, however, I loved the hotel! The rooms were absolutely immaculate, the bed was super comfortable, and there was ample space to get work done. Someone had complaints about provisions in the bathroom, but when I was there it was very well appointed - all toiletries, of course, a hair dryer, even a TV. I also liked the little gift shop - dour manager aside, it had everything - nail polish remover, aspirin, knick knacks, etc.
The location is unbelievable - literally across the street from Georgetown Law and Starbucks, a block from an excellent pub called the Dubliner, and three blocks from Union Station and the Postal Museum. Can't beat it!
Overall, I really did have a lovely stay - there's always a couple of bad apples on any staff, and everyone at the Washington Court really goes out of their way to insure a nice stay.

We got to the hotel and thought "Wow!" about the lobby. Our room was decent. This experience reminds you not to judge a book by it's cover. We go to take a shower and realize there in NO HAIR CONDITIONER, but there is shampoo. We thought it was just forgotten so called for it and was told if we needed it to go down to the store and buy conditioner.
Room service was only until 11pm and of course we were hungry after that time.
We valeted our car and when we would come late, there would be no one to valet the car, yet we paid for overnight valet service.
The service was horrible. The concierge couldn't help us when we asked about possible restaurants to go to, etc. Very condescending attitude with one in particular.

A very nice hotel for the most part... large bathrooms, very comfortable rooms, prompt and polite service. Outstanding location... barely a five minute walk from Union Station and very close to the Capitol and Mall. Small shop in the lobby has great hours (7am-11pm) and was a lifesaver when sunscreen & advil ran out. When we arrived, our window was leaking from the rain. Maintenance responded almost immediately but we were moved to a different, equally nice room just to avoid any further problems. My only complaint was with the business services... internet is $10/day and limited to your room (will have to pay again in lobby). But this can easily be dodged with other internet providers.

I am surprised at how negative some reviews of this place are.I was very, very impressed with it. The lobby is beautiful. The room was just fine. Bed was comfortable. The bathrooms are very nice. I wouldn't quite rate it a 5 star, but it certainly is worth a 4 star. The only complaint I had about the room is that it didn't have a fridge. In the hot summer there, you want to be able to keep water and other beverages cold.
The location is very convenient as well. It is just a couple blocks from Union Station, which is great. There is plenty of good food in the area. You are also just two blocks from the Capitol building. Pretty much all of the sites ya want to see are within walking distance. And anything that isn't you just walk a couple blocks to Union Station to take the Metro-rail somewhere.
I thought the customer service was just fine.
Overall, I'd certainly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Washington, DC.

Frist let me say that we got a great package with this hotel from Priceline and the cost is a big factor whenever I look at value. If I had paid full price I'm sure I could think of things to find fault with.
That said, we spent 4 nights here and were very pleased with our stay and would love to get a package like this again in the future. We were in D.C. to sightsee and didn't spend much time in the hotel other then to sleep and get ready for the new day. My wife had breakfast there each morning and felt the service was slow and the price high but this is Washington D.C and that seems to be the rule everywhere we went.
By the end of our stay they were having trouble with two of there there elevators which slowed us down a little but really not much of a problem. The business center charges $7 to use the computer so we printed our bording passes at the airport instead.
We stayed in room #1218 which has a view of the Capital dome over the roof tops. The room was always spotless and was a very nice room althought I am sure if you looked hard enough you could find something wrong with it. There is noise from the fire station on the street below but we didn't find it a problem. The cable TV wasn't all that great but we there to see the sights and spent litte time watching TV. The bathroom was also very nice with a good tub/shower, lots of towels and the like.
There is a small store for snacks and drinks on the street next to the fire station. The door men were very good and cabs seem to always be there waiting. A ride to National airport cost us $17.
There are two subway stations, each about three blocks in either direction from the hotel and not a bad walk for us. We thought the subway system was great but you do need to learn how the system works to make the most of it.
We did see some homeless people in the area by the hotel but only a few and never had any problem with them.
The front desk staff did seem a little on edge but we didn't have any problems with them. Everyone we came in contact with on the hotel staff treated us well.
We were happy with our stay and if we find a package like this in the future we will be staying at this hotel again.
