I received some coupons from this casino/hotel in the mail shortly after I signed up for their players club in October 2007. We chose to redeem the coupons at the end of January. Their were numerous coupons, one for the hotel room rate, one for the casino buffet, one for free slot play, etc. We booked our reservations in December for the end of January. After calling and confirming THREE seperate times, we headed out for our weekend getaway. We arrive at 2pm, (which is 2 hours before check-in time) but politely asked if it was to early to check-
in. Now I work in a hotel and I am well aware that by 2pm, there are rooms clean and ready to rent. Never the less, they wouldn't let us check in until 4pm. I decided to verify once again that we had a reservation, and I am glad I did, because to my horror, we didn't have one. The lady at their central reservations office booked our room at the same casino, only in Lake Tahoe, not in Vicksburg! After arguing with them that I had called three times to confirm, they still would not honor my reservation, or change it over to the Horizon Vicksburg. They gladly wanted to rent me a room, however would not honor the coupon discounted rate, saying it was only valid at the Lake Tahoe casino, when the coupon said NOTHING about it only being valid there. Needless to say, because of this, we chose not to stay at this place because I did not want to risk anything getting mixed up with my credit card, etc. The staff was VERY rude, not accomodating, and down right unprofessional. My suggestion to management is that they need to do some serious training of their employees and give them all an attitude adjustment, because my money is good anywhere and they lost 3 nights worth of business because of this, as well as I will never stay there when I am in Vicksburg, which is 2-3 times a year.

We just stayed at the Horizon Casino Hotel. We were a little worried after reading the reviews here. I had already booked the room so we decided to stay anyway.
I'm glad we did. We were not expecting alot for 59 bucks a night, but the room was better than expected. Clean and comfortable. The only thing I really wish it had was internet access.
The staff was great. Everyone we ran into was very helpful and friendly.
The buffet was small but very good. Great food and service. A good value for the money.
The casino staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a great time. Our waitress and the dealers took good care of us.

I am guessing that great management can make all the difference in a hotel stay.

My company just hosted a product review (May 10th) for guests at this casino. Not only was the staff eager to please-but you can tell they love what they are doing. I highly recommend this hotel-casino for up to a 25-30 people event. We enjoyed the food, beverages and the rooms were clean and modern. I am guessing that the management makes all the difference between some of the older reviews and our recent stay. Two thumbs up.

The front desk staff was nice but didn't have a clue. Obviously these people are not trained by management properly. When my room had no "Hotel Directory" I called the front desk. i was told there were no extras. Without a directory I was flying blind.
In the bathroom there is a card with a schedule of items contained in the room with prices just in case you wanted to buy one ot them ie coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. This was an attempt to tell anyone thinking of stealing an item what the value was. Had I stolen the hair dryer, it would cost me $33.00. The only problem is that there was no hair dryer!
I travel quite a bit and I have never been in a hotel from five star down to "Ed & Elaine's Motor Court" and there's always a hair dryer. When I called the front desk to ask if they could send one up I was told the hotel didn't provide hair dryers!
My opinion was the front desk staff was either poorly trained or just lazy and didn't want to bother with problems. They solved them the easiest way possible.
I would NEVER stay at this hotel again.

Checked in at 7pm, went to room, no hot water. Nothing coming out of faucets. Called front desk, told it was a hotel-wide problem. Fixed in a half hour, they said. 20 min. later, water coming out, not hot. went out, came back at nine, still not hot. I look forward to a hot bath in the evening after being in smoky casinos all day. By 10:30, a little warmer but not even hot enough for a shower. Went to bed stinky, took a shower in the AM, NOT HAPPY.
Front desk obviously knew about problem when I checked in, never mentioned it. No apologies, no concern by management. Just business as usual in this poorly run hotel.
