I saw a review of this hotel in National Geographic and it looked perfect for a short stay in Paris. I was concerned by the number of comments about the unhelpful staff and decided to risk it seeing as our stay was short. However, I wanted to write a review to say that the staff at this hotel were great. My husband and I and our 5 year old daughter had a very large room with a nice bathroom with separate shower (room 202). The room was very clean and tastefully decorated. The location is amazing - we had no problem getting here on the metro from Gare du Nord. The staff let us check in early and were always very helpful when we asked for restaurant recommendations or directions or needed a taxi. A suggestion - at least try and speak French instead of assuming (probably correctly) that everyone can speak English and I am sure your reception will be very friendly. The nearby Rue St Honere is wonderful for shopping and lots of good restaurants nearby - try Angelinas for sure for breakfast or just an afternoon tea.

Our family stayed at the Hotel Brighton for 4 nights in a junior suite on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking the Tulierie Gardens. I would highly recommend a room with a balcony as you can walk onto the balcony (though it is very narrow) and see the Louvre (across the street), Eiffel Tower in the distance and as far as the Arc de Triomphe. We had a very large renovated room that had plenty of space for us and all our luggage. Bathrooms are also newly rated. Though you are overlooking a very busy street, the sound proof windows do a good job of muffling the noise down to a dull roar.
There is no lobby, per se, just an area with a small reception desk and a reading room just behind reception.
The staff are top notch, courteous and extremely helpful with providing directions to all the sights (Metro is across the road). they also sell the Museum Pass which allows you to bypass the ticket purchasing lines at the various attractions - though you must still wait in the ticket holder line up.
I would also recommend buying breakfast at the hotel for 10 Euros as you can eat and drink as much as you want versus buying one croissant and a single coffee at a cafe for the same price. Breakfasts were very good.
I would highly recommend this hotel for its location and room conditions.

This is a small hotel in a fabulous location! It's right on the Rue de Rivoli next to some of the best hotels in Paris. The rooms are very nice recently redone, and the bathrooms have been recently redone as well. The only drawback is that the shower is hand held. The tubs are very nice though and, with a little ingenouity you can shower. We had a small balcony and french doors over looking the Tulierie gardens. The Louvre is only 2 blocks down the street and the other direction 3 blocks or so is the Place de Concorde which leads to the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and the Champs de Lyse. We were able to walk everywhere, if you don't mind walking a bit. We also had 2 tour bus locations right nearby for easy access.
Also, two blocks away is the Place de St. Honore which has about 10 fabulous restaurants, including an Italian one, off by itself in a corner which is very large because there is a downstairs, and has some of the best Italian food we've ever eaten. The whole family loved it here! I would definately stay here again.!!

I came across this hotel in National Geographic Traveler which cited it as best value in Paris and your other reviewers seconded it. Very happy camper. Hotel is perfectly located and rooms are totally quiet even thought the hotel overlooks a busy street; I took a Junior Suite which was very good. No amenity that I needed wasn't there. I wouldn't mind BBC World on the TV though; they do have CNN. Breakfast is a good deal there and it was excellent. They are tops on service; people went the extra mile for me during my 2 night stay. I needed cash to pay my taxi from the airport; the desk clerk lent me the money till I could get cash later. Concierge sent me a letter with details I needed to know where to buy something. I would definitely want to return but the lack of connecting rooms could be a problem if I come back with wife and kids and don't know where I will fit them since there are no 2 bedroom suites in this hotel.
