My wife and I made our first trip to Florida in July, 1998, and found this motel before we left New Zealand by surfing the accommodation web sites in the area. We stayed here for eight nights and had no problems at any time. The rooms were clean and well serviced and the whole feel of the place was that it was a well-run establishment. At the time, I operated a motel of my own, so I was, and still am, sensitive to these requirements.
Five years later, almost to the day, we stayed there again, on our second Florida trip. It is nice to go back to a place and find that it is just as you remember it - even down to the little concrete animals on the lawn. The bonus, for us, was when we told the young lady at check-in that we had stayed there five years before, she gave us a repeat-business discount.
If we return to Kissimmee, we will stay at this motel without hesitation.

During the first night the toilet stopped and never was fixed (Thanks God I didn't used it too much). I booked my reservation on the internet with my credit card and during the check out they charged me another rate (higher) not the one offered on the internet. I had to file a complaint at Consumer's Affairs in order to get a credit. If you don't want to have a very bad experience and ruin you vacations don't stay in that motel.

Surprisingly nice, but don't expect five-star quality

I had a last minute business trip to Orlando during Spring Break/Easter season, so most hotels I looked at were either sold out or at the highest high-season rates. I came across some reviews for Record Parkside and thought "how bad can it be"?, considering there are some major hotels in the area that guests report are dirty, dismal and downright frightening.
When I first checked in, I could see the hotel was old, probably built in the 1970's (or even 1960s), pre-Disney. But from the outside everything looked clean and cared-for, very similar to the 'Mom and Pop" motels our family would stay at on road trips when I was a kid. The room itself was just your average motel room - bed, dresser/television and bathroom. There is certainly some wear around the edges, but nothing significant. Then, as my trip continued, I noticed how CLEAN everything was. No dust, no spots, no stains. Sure, there is rust on the mirror frame; the towels are thinning; and there have been some 'creative' handyman repairs, but I didn't worry about things crawling on me at night, or find any mold in the shower. I would say, it's a lot like staying at a family members' house, that you haven't seen for a while. Everything is clean, they are welcoming, but you can't help notice some things that you would 'never' do if you had guests over! lol I would easily stay here again, and best of all, even though it was Spring Break, everything was quiet and generally peaceful. There seemed to be mostly older, retired types staying here, and not until my last night - a Friday - did I notice some more colorful characters. The one thing I didn't realize is the motel is on a major tourist highway, so you're surrounded by cheap shops and attractions. But the rooms themselves are set back about 100 feet or so from the highway, so while traffic can be rough, excess noise was not a problem.

We stayed at this hotel based on a.a.a. ratings and trip advisor rating. From all of our travels we have never been disappointed with a continential breakfast until visiting this property, this properties breakfast consisted of a cup of coffee and either two slices of toast or two small powdered donuts no fruit, juice or,cereal. The clerk even went so far as to ask another guest how many people in their party so as to be sure they did not take more than was allowed. We also found if you wanted ice you had to pay for it.The office had posted hours but even those where inconsistent. The rooms where clean and the location o.k. although there was construction going on it is was difficult to get into the property and construction seem to start at 1:00 a.m. not good for sleeping. We would probably not stay at this location again so be sure and ask what is included in the continential breakfast.

The only thing keeping me from giving this the highest ranking is that the first 3 days we were there the heater in the pool was broken. This is a family run motel and everybody there treated us like family too. The hotel was spotless inside. Is a 4 star hotel? No, but it's $39 a night and was better than the hotel we stayed at coming home which was $79. You're within a few blocks of Target & Wal-Mart. You can buy all of your attraction tickets in their office. It's less than 10 minutes from Disney World. Just our youngest son and I went - this summer, all 4 of us will be staying here!
