I stayed at this hotel for one night. I planned on staying for 4 nights but after the first night, I checked out. I was given a room with an adjoining door. The walls (perhaps through the door) allowed me hear my neighbor use the washroom, talk and sneeze. In fact, I heard his alarm go off at 6:30 am--not MY wake up time. The night before (when I heard voices talking), I asked for another room...apparently, there were no more rooms available. So, I checked out in the morning. The front desk girl was apologetic, and offered another room, but I had already decided to leave. The hotel lobby was dated, but it was clean. The room was clean and well-furnished, too. The service people that I encountered (aside from the one on the phone the night before) were very pleasant. And, the pool looked great. I am a light sleeper, and I need some quiet. The paper-thin walls did not work for me. But, otherwise, it seemed like a decent hotel with a good location for downtown Edmonton.

I tour for a living. This hotel is clean, safe, and the staff is very helpful. The only downside is that the parking lot is underground and vans do not fit. You will have to park across the street in an outdoor lot owned by Staples. There is a large shopping mall attached so there are lots of food options and good shops. If you like Hilton, Hyatt, or Marriott, you will be comfortable here for sure.

Well, I was hoping to get the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald when I booked this on hotwire, and I don't think the Sutton Place is a 4 star hotel, but it was pretty nice. The room was large and very clean, with views of downtown. The bathroom was average size and had great brand name soaps, lotions, etc. The area of downtown is a little scary at night, so you may want to pay the extra fee and get the valet parking. Parking is atrocious around the hotel. We ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory downtown, it was lovely, as per usual. Apparently the food at the hotel is really good, but we didn't eat there. I have eaten at the Hardware Grill downtown on another stay, which is relatively close, and has excellent fare. This hotel would be great for a business traveler who needs to be downtown. It's attached to the mall downtown, close to the Shaw Conference Centre, Winspear Centre, Citadel Theatre and many other downtown attractions. It's also close to the LRT line.

Sutton Place is definitely not a 4 star hotel. I have stayed at Super 8's that are much better than here! The rooms are adequate, however, the room we stayed in was grimy (stains on the chair and bedspreads). The tub would not drain at all. The clock radio did not work. The ice machine did not work . Parking is $19 per night. Local phone calls are $1.05. Watch out for these add ons to an already overpriced hotel. Sutton Place definitely needs an overhaul. You would get more for your money if you stayed at the Westin or some of the smaller boutique hotels in Edmonton!

I think all of us have times when everything goes wrong from the minute you start. My experience was nothing like some of the sad reviews I read, but I sympathize. The Lobby is very dated and dark, but the rooms are really great. It was once a Four Seasons, then a Sheraton and now a Sutton property. They did a great job on the remodeling of the rooms. I am shocked by the prices for Edmonton hotels, as pricey as London or New York, must be all the oil rigs going up! The staff at any location makes the difference and that's where Sutton Place shines. One gentleman named Dennis came up immediately when I couldn't get online and made sure the free wireless worked. When i arrived, even with a good Hotwire rate, they moved me when available to a large King with a great view of the Casino as soon as it was available. I asked for a comforter and it was whisked up within minutes. Before I left, I said something to Dennis how shocked I was by the mobile phone charges in Canada when talking in Canada and USA or while roaming. I have searched for the right answers in Toronto. Dennis came up with a print out of new technology for cellphone users to beat the Wall of pricing by unlocking your phone, which even AT&T self servingly denied that could happen. Now that is information and service anyone would be happy to get. The food service is a little slow but the food is well prepared. I would definitely stay here if ever coming to Edmonton.
