The room was booked via a secondary source. I called ahead to request a King bed in a non-smoking room and they were happy to accommodate the request. The room was very nice and very clean. The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. I was very satisfied with my stay.

Made a last minute booking here through Hotels.ca (which we have subsequently learned is the same as Expedia) because the Sutton Place in Vancouver is so wonderful. Had to book two rooms because we are four, specifically requested two beds in each room but were 'upgraded' to two rooms w king beds because they had no double rooms, Rooms were small, cramped, furniture was old, paint peeling, staff were surly. First night was a disaster, we were so squished and uncomfortable, decided to check out and find a two bedroom suite, but because we had booked through expedia found ourselves 'locked in' to staying in a totally unsuitable hotel. Spent 5 hours on the phone with expedia and with the manager of the hotel and were finally able to leave with assurances, but nothing confirmed, that we will get our money back. We are in Toronto on a family holiday that was planned months ago, our first reservation was cancelled at the last minute which is why we were in a pickle in the first place. Recommend that all negotiations with hotels.ca or expedia be approached with caution - customer satisfaction does not appear to be a priority - and do not recommend the Sutton Place in Toronto.

First, I got it on priceline for $69 so I can't complain too much. But for a 4* star, it is average at best. My big complain: I called a friend in Toronto (it's cheaper than roaming on my US based called) and there is NO pen and paper in the room. Hell, Motel 6 gives you that! Also, the TV was old (probably 10 yrs old) and the furnishing are neither 'antique' or modern.
Note to Hyatt: Buy this hotel and convert it into a Hyatt Place. The rooms themselves are very spacious and HP could really make this into a good mid-range hotel in TO. And the staff at the Sutton Place were excellent.

I attended a conference here and was very disappointed with my hotel room and the hotel services. My room was quite outdated, especially the bathroom and just felt dingy. As a business traveller, you expect certain things out of a hotel and the Sutton did not live up to any of these expectations. Internet was $16.50 for 24 hours, the food with room service and in their restaurant was grossly over priced for the quality, and there was an issue with the TV…I was travelling with a colleague and her and I felt like watching a movie (Juno). We ordered the movie and the screen went blank…we tried numerous times to get it to come on and the screen stayed black. When the front desk was contacted, the lady at the desk rudely dismissed my concerns. She did send someone up to look at the TV who spoke little English and could not figure out what was wrong so told me to call back to the front desk. When I called back once again the lady was very rude and seemed aggravated when we asked her to remove the charge from the bill because we weren’t able to watch the movie we wanted to.
There were a few good things about the hotel, mainly the location (nice and close to everywhere) and the men working at the front doors. They were very friendly and helpful when we needed a cab or directions.
I know my colleague and I were both disappointed with the hotel. Luckily our company was covering the costs, but it was disappointing to think that they had to. The conference room was nice, but the chairs were uncomfortable and the tables were super skinny, there were at least glasses broken during the conference because there was barely enough room for ones books, laptops, and water glasses…this should not be the case.
I would not recommend this hotel at all, especially to people who are paying for it out of their own pockets. It is bound to be a disappointment. The one thing to note is they are improving the rooms and hotel, so I would consider going back in a couple of years, just to see the changes but not anytime soon.

Stayed there twice this week, even got the same room with the same problems even after pointing them out
Water control to bath/shower broken
Television old and terrible picture
No dressing gown on second stay
Hotel staff pushed by guests on the lift to get out first
Signage has not been replaced in months
For the "name/image" it is trying to advertize it is not even close when they can't get the basics correct.
