After reading other reviews on this and other websites, we wondered if we'd made the right decision in our choice. On arrival at the hotel, we instantly knew that the location alone sold it to us - yes, it IS out of town, but that was what we wanted - peace and quiet, and beautiful scenery all around.
My partner had booked 2 superior rooms, and they were breathtaking - I don't know what standards other reviewers are used to, but for me it deserved 5 stars. The rooms were cleaned daily, towels replaced regularly, large exceptionally comfortable double bed in ours.
Yes you could find a few faults if you looked, but who needs to look at a couple of damp spots on the ceiling when there are views all around you such as from this delightful site?? And yes, the t.v. was mostly Italian stations, but do you come to Italy to watch t.v.?
We took our 2 children, aged 10 and 15, which was unusual - there were no other children in the hotel, and we were told by other guests that they'd booked understanding that the hotel was adults only - not true- but several people commented how well-behaved ours were and it therefore wasn't an issue.
The staff were all friendly and helpful, exceptionally so in the cases of some waitors and reception staff, and the food was excellent - vast quantities and not one complaint about the quality from us or anyone we spoke to. The restaurant is elegant and refined - clearly not the sort of place you would wear shorts to, but lovely to dress for in the evening, without being ostentatious.
The hotel is clearly popular with locals, but we were not made to feel 'in the way' on the one occasion a wedding was hosted.
The coutesy bus down to Sorrento is excellent, and we found our way around easily by public transport to Pompei, the Amalfi coast etc., which is far cheaper than the excursions.
And another unexpected bonus - we discovered that our half-board package came with very drinkable wine and soft drinks in the evening, which considerably reduced our expected expenditure.
All in all a wonderful, memorable holiday, which we would definately repeat - next time I'll take my painting gear as well as the camera!

We stayed for a week at the Nastro Azzurro, and overall we had a lovely time. We were in the new annexe, and had a beautiful room with a stunning view of the sea and mountains. The only faults with the room were: no shower curtain, so floor got very wet, and we could only get 1 channel on the tv, although not the end of the world.
The hotel was lovely in an art deco kind of way, and we enjoyed the food, except for the day there was a wedding reception there, and then it was atrocious. My daughter had her pyjamas stolen from the room !. The staff wernt really very interested in that, and I cant blame them, but it was a fairly major concern to my daughter.
The surroundings of the hotel were gorgeous, and all in all we were glad we stayed there. the trips to Herculaneum, Pompeii, Capri and especially the Amalfi coast were wonderful.
The only downsides were, we hadnt realised how expensive everywhere was (40 Euros a round of 4 drinks) so we had to budget, and we are used to all inclusive, so that took some doing. The only other thing to watch for. is the room bill at the end of the stay. Ours was £290 Euros, and we made no phone calls, had a bottle of water and a bottle of coke a day from the mini bar, and 1 bottle of wine in the evening with dinner.
Overall it was a lovely trip, and the remoteness of the hotel was not a problem as the shuttle goes around every hour.

Let me begin by saying that Sorrento is beautiful and definitely a site to see…and the pizza and caprese salad are wonderful choices to eat in the restaurants in town.
BUT…both my husband and I were VERY disappointed with the hotel. Yes, it had a beautiful view--mountains on one side and the ocean on the other…but, the inside of the hotel is a different story all together. It is definitely not a 4* hotel, I give it a 3 tops…and that’s being generous!!!
The reception staff is sufficient...they definitely didn't go out of their way to help you, but they got the job done. The head bartender was quite nice and did smile from time to time, which is hard to say about the other staff members. The headwaiter was a rude, unhappy individual that walked around as if he owned the place and the wine waiter had a pickle up his [--]. Not to mention that gentlemen can’t wear shorts in the restaurant for dinner…yes, that’s what you want when you go on vacation…someone telling you what to wear!!
The hotel room is disgusting…I don’t even know where to begin! The room was dark and the decor was ancient. The bathroom and the floor were filthy, the shower had mould in it and the door would not close, not to mention that one person had trouble fitting into it and make sure you bring an extra pair of flip flops to wear in there because I wouldn’t recommend going in bare foot! The towels smell like vinegar and I’m not quite sure why they have cleaning ladies. The room doesn’t really get cleaned?!? All they do is make the beds and change the towels…I found myself cleaning the sink by the end of the week and sweeping the floor. The beds are tiny and you have to push them together if you want to sleep beside your partner at night. The balcony is bigger than the room, but un-useable?!? It is dirty and the view at the back of the building looks like a dump…did I mention that it was dirty?
The hotel is about 40 minutes away from town…so, it is very, very, very inconvenient and at times you feel stranded up there! Although the hotel offers a shuttle service, you have to pre-book your seat, which means that you cannot be spontaneous…a little annoying!
All in all- I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel to anyone planning to vacation in Sorrento. Be wise and do your research before you go!

I've read the review guidelines so you can choose whether or not to print this - I notice there isn't anything really recent on the hotel.
While our room was nice, the bathroom was awkward. You need to be a contortionist to manage to shower and not soak the floor. The towels had holes in them - definitely not indicative of a 4 star hotel. While I recognize all hotels have good points and bad, the worst experience at this hotel was the dishonesty of a receptionist. I found cash, turned it in to reception (this was witnessed) but the receptionist and the hotel refused to acknowledge that the cash was handed in and the person who lost the money never received it. Until this experience I would gladly have recommended this hotel, regardless of it's holey towels, but now, not on your life!
