The hotel is well situated with decent sized rooms and nice facilities. My only complaint is that the service is rather poor. Upon arrival in the afternoon, I had the impression that there was insufficient staff. To begin with the receptionist who assisted me upon check-in also helped carry my bags to the room. She was the only person that was present at the time. Shortly after I entered the room, I found a pair of old socks in the drawers. Despite having notified the reception twice, only the next day did the house keeping clear the item. During breakfast there was only one staff to handle the guests orders, clear the table, clean the cups and plates and replenish the food. Often I noticed that the table has not been done up, cups and plates at the buffet table are missing. Having said that, the hotel staff were friendly however I certainly felt that the service could be much better.

This is my favorite hotel in Rome I have stayed there several times, in 2003 and 2007. Before it was transformed into a hotel it stood next to gladiator barracks. Service is good and the rooms although small are perfect for a romantic getaway. The view of the Coloseum is unbeatable and is best appreciated on the rooftop garden during the morning over a nice light breakfast, or in the evening over dinner and wine. This is not an ideal hotel for business travelers, essentially there is no business center and wireless internet was not available when I was there. Although some may balk at the price of the hotel, in my opinion it is worth it as you cannot get a better view of the coloseum that will be remembered for years to come.
