We stayed for 5 nights in the hotel europa. Once you overlooked the general shabbiness of the rooms the place grows on you
Sister had to change rooms because of the smell coming from her room , avoid rm 306
Cousin had the infamous room in the attic but stayed in it because if the adequacy of the bathroom
All in all not a bad hotel for the price , the mattresses were the best thing about the stay, perfect !
Staff lovely especially the man from Israel , who let us in each night
On our first night , the receptionist told us that they were one room short so we had to move to a sister hotel down the road for a night , not bad but a little boxy.
Perfect for what you need in rome , a place to lay your head after a days sightseeing

I had booked to stay at this hotel with my boyfriend for a long weekend but after seeing some of the reviews we were both extremely dubious. However, I have to say we were more than pleasantly surprised. The hotel is clean, in an excellent location and the breakfast is more than adequate. The staff are extremely helpful and speak perfect english. It is alittle difficult to find at first but this can be easily overcome by getting a taxi (35 euro's from the airport). The beds are alittle hard but this is my only gripe. I would happily recommend anyone to stay here :-)

Let me start by saying that this hotel is rated a 3-stars. With the experience that I had, the only 3-stars that it has is the lobby, the reception area, I had better room in a 1 star in a third world motel.
I was given room #405 upon check-in. To get to that room, you have to climb a narrow staircase all the way to the top, cross the hotel rooftop (no I am not kidding) and there it is. What I should describe as a shed that was probably was used to keep the pigeons in the old day. The door lock showed sign that it was probably kicked in at some point in the past. The sole single bed is tucked to the slanted ceiling that forced me to duck in order not to bang my head whenever I wanted to get something from the drawer. The bed was a simple mattress of dubious quality and I couldn't quite make out the color of the linen if it is white or yellow.
I don't know whether I should laugh or cry when I opened the bathroom door. The decent shampoo and conditioner seems totally out of place. A good thing is the hot/cold water seems to work just fine.
The wall so paper-thin, I can hear all the conversation from the room next door. Guess what they were talking about, they were trying to figure out a way to get out of this hotel. I was looking around a good excuse to get myself out of this hole myself but there were no cockroaches around for me to justifying getting myself that room at the Westin Excelsior.
I have seem a lot of bad room around the world but at $130 USD/night, I expect something a bit more decent. Stay at your own risk!!!!!

The hotel is located near the Termini station. There is absolutely nothing to do in the area in the evenings and the area is full with homeless people and drunks.
The hotel is very basic, far from 3 star hotel. We had the smallest room I have ever seen, nothing like the one on the photo. Our room was a birdcageat the end of a hall, next to a fire escape, looking straight into resident building windows. There is no space in the room for moving, two people can not pass by each other. The mattress was so hard that I and my husband (both 28 years old) end up not sleeping after walking around Rome all day and with sore backs for a week. No fun at all!
I would never go back to this hotel.
