We returned from our holiday in Sorrento feeling very relaxed.
Sorrento is a beautiful part of Italy I would recommend it to anyone.many evenings spent having a drink watching the sunset
over the Bay of Naples....wonderful. Sorrento was very clean no yobs or chavs on street corners,On an evening part of the main street is closed off to traffic so people can walk up and down safely although it is Italy still keep an eye out for scooters .
The Grand Hotel De La Ville has been the best hotel we've stayed in so far.The reception staff were excellent, we arrived late due to a small delay and missed our evening meal, there was a cold platter waiting for us in our room. The room was clean and big enough for two people,we were on the first floor and our balcony was overlooked by residential appartments, not really a problem as we only slept in the room the rest of the time we were out enjoying the facilities. The dinning room staff were excellent,Enzo and Carmlie especially.there are two pools we used to go to the roof sun terrace no need to be up early to put your towels on beds. The lady who ran the bar up there,Flora, she was brilliant.
Our Thompson rep,Mary, and the other ones we met at the wellcome meeting were very good and would recommend going with Thompson. The trips we booked were all very good and our guides were excellent. So all in all we had a fantastic time....
thank you for a great holiday

This was our 4th time staying at the hotel and we will definately be booking there again next year. With a central location 5 minutes from the main square, excellent food quality and very friendly staff the De La Ville is a great place to spend your holiday. The rooftop swimming pool is the ideal place to relax during the day and it boasts stunning views of the Bay of Naples.I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to holiday in Sorrento.

I have been holidaying in Sorrento for the last 15 years and this is my 4th visit to the De la Ville.
I took my sister with me this year and she loved it and found it to be so relaxing in Sorrento although it is a very busy resort.
The Staff at the hotel are exceptional and do their upmost to make you feel special.
The Maitre,d Enzo is charming and ensures that all his staff look after you personally.
Most of the staff enjoy a good laugh! especially Genaro and Salvatore who made our holiday even more special.
The hotel is elegant and well furnished and the rooms are cleaned every day by the chambermaids who are also very friendly.
Their is an excellent choice for breakfast and lovely gardens to sit in while you have your meal in the wonderful sunshine.
Each week their is a Grand Buffet Dinner with an excellent choice of hot and cold buffet with delicious deserts.
The bar is looked after by Gino and his staff Bruno and Andrea and if you ask Gino politely he will even give you a song on the entertainment evenings.
A special mention to Carmine who always had a friendly word and to the Chefs, Porters and Reception staff who were always helpful.
We hope to return again next year, and although I have been coming to Sorrento for 15 years I never feel the need to go elsewhere as all the people are so friendly and make you feel at home.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel De La Ville for 1 week on half board basis 4-11 July. The position of the hotel could not be better, a quiet street close to the main piazza and the lovely "Drains" area for shopping and bars.
The decor is superb with lovely outside eating area and relaxing pool areas. The hotel is clean and despite some other reviews I could not fault the food. I am a very fussy eater and I had no problems choosing from the excellent menu.
The main point which impressed me was the friendliness of the staff, they went out of their way to make the holiday special. Enzo and Carmine in the restaurant were particularly attentive. That said all the staff chambermaids, bar staff and reception staff were very helpful and friendly. I particularly liked their sense of humour!
Yes the hotel is a little pricey but so is Italy if you want a cheap holiday then I don't think Sorrento is for you!

We stayed at the Grand Hotel de la Ville in Sorrento for five nights in June. The hotel is in a good location, about a 10-minute walk from Piazza Tasso, the main square in town.
We booked a superior room and were very pleased with it. The room was large and well-appointed, and had a great view of the Bay of Naples. It also had a nice balcony with a table and chairs, where we were able to enjoy the view. The bathroom was large and nicely appointed.
With the exception of the workweek housekeeper, who was an absolute joy, the staff at reception and in the dining room were very helpful but not particularly warm.
Breakfast is served in a large dining room and there are tables ouside as well in a pretty garden setting. It was a wonderful buffet with a wide variety of choices, including a station that cooked eggs to your order.
This hotel gets a fair amount of British and other tour groups. It didn't bother us, but if you prefer staying in a place that does not get tour groups, this hotel might not be the best choice.
We definitely recommend the Grand Hotel de la Ville.
