Worst hotel ever.

This is probably the worst property I have ever been to.
Although the facade is beautiful (historical building, city landmanrk, etc...), the minute you walk in the Hotel, you understand that beneath the fantastic cover, lies the cruel reality. Just a few examples:
* On the product:
- cracks all over the hotel
- old and shabby carpets
- broken bar chairs
- smelly sofa.
- sour milk at breakfast
* On the service:
- my bathroom was not clean when I first entered the room, towels all over the place and dirty toilet.
- one bell boy watched an entire football game sitting at the bar, while guests were standing (!!!). After I complained, the reaction was close to 0.
- no problem solving skills from the staff
- absolutely no empathy with the customer
The property is totally outdated, in service and product. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Bad value for money

Our expectations were great since we booked an executive room. I think the management should travel the world a bit, so they can see what an average executive room looks like. Om top ot the basic accommodation bein very poor, the breakfast was the most discusting thing I've ever seen!!
You get what you pay for

Just returned from another trip to Riga, this time staying in this Hotel. Had read the reviews here and there is some truth to them.
The hotel price is cheap, it's location great - being on the edge of the old city and opposite some beautiful parks, it's safe and the rooms are .... adequate. Those are the good points.
The bad points are: the rooms are .... adequate (let's face it if you're in a city how much time do you spend in your hotel room?), as it's cheap it attracts the bargin end of other guests - be prepared for drunk British tourists (and as a Briton even I try to avoid them). The decor is tired and early 80's at best - the lights in the breakfast room appear 60's. As it's on a bus/tram route in the city centre there is some traffic noise.
Basically this is an updated Stalinist era hotel so you're getting what you paid for. There are better 3* hotels in Riga.
