this hotel had many of the attributes in cluding the price of a five star hotel but was so lacking in the extras that you expect. there was only internet accessfrom a computer next to the lifts on the ground floor - and it cost 5euros per half hour. the bathrooms had no no cotton wool no body lotion no hair conDITIONER AND WHAT THEY HAD WAS SO POOR WE HAD TO GO AND BUY OUR OWN. No free water available in the room. In adequate air conditioning so the room was always stuffy in the night. very disappointed in the bar. would look for another hotel in the town next time.

The suite was very beautifull and clean, but nothing special.
The attendents were very snobbishes and I was afraid all the time of asking them anything... it seemed they were doing me a favour.
This is not a 5 star service, neither a 5 star hotel.
Talking about categorie, this is the worst 5 stars hotel I?ve ever been in my life.

I've stayed three or four times at the Imperiale, each time has been pleasant and enjoyable, but this hotel is very expensive, and in my opinion does not warrant the 400 euros a night price tag.
On this last visit, we arrived at midday, and were told our room was not ready. No problem, 2pm is the stated check in time. We walked into town for some lunch and came back at 2. The room was still not ready. Ok, we went for another walk for an hour. At 3pm the room still was not ready. The reason given by the reception staff was that the previous occupants of the room had only left at 1:30, and the room had to be cleaned - as if the situation of one guest leaving and another arriving had never happened before in the 120 year history of the hotel! Surely they know this happens, and should employ enough staff to clean the rooms between guests!
So, we changed into our bathing costumes in the toilets, and went down to the beach, finally getting into our room at 6pm. The room was spacious, with a lovely bathroom.
We had dinner that evening in the hotel restaurant, outside on the terrace. Service was attentive and pleasant, although a steak requested rare arrived well done.
Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty to choose from, hot and cold, although someone needs to tell them how to make a proper cup of tea. (This is a minor gripe however, since I've actually never found an Italian hotel that could make a decent cup of tea. The teabag goes in first, people! A pot of warm water with teabags on the side just won't cut it!)
Overall, I enjoyed my stay, Santa Margherita is a lovely town, and the private beach facilities are very good. However, there were too many basic things they were getting wrong. A hotel of this standing ought to be able to clean a room on time, and cook a steak!
The staff were pleasant and tried to be helpful, but on the whole, I could not recommend this hotel as it just doesn't have the "wow factor" that a hotel ought to have in this price bracket.

Ok, le lieux est un peu désuet,
Ok, on a l'impression que le temps n'a pas eu de prise sur cet endroit...
Mais c'est ça qui est génial !
Le service est d'une rare gentillesse.
Enfin un endroit où on aimerait poser ses valises pour un long moment.
