During a tightly booked trip through Italy (Venice-Florence-Rome), the Hotel Delle Nazioni was a great respite. I was wary of the 2? star rating, but was pleasantly surprised. We were booked into a large 2 bed room with balcony. AC worked greated, and room was quiet.
Breakfast buffet was fantastic, and the free Internet access in the upper lobby was an added plus. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. It's just a short walk to the Santa Maria Novella Train Station, so, it's convenient to all Florence has to offer.

Bad hotel,, horrible!
We arrived last friday (june the 20th), and Florence was boiling for the weather, very hot and humid.
In our room the air conditioned didn't work, was broken, we didn't sleep. the day after someone repaired the apparatus but the air was not cool. We paied 450,00 ? for 4 night to have a room in a kind of basement flat and not so clean.
Breakfast was not so good with sub-bran product. We calculate that we can go in a 4 star hotel (ex Ambasciatori next to ours) at the same price.
The advantages: internet free and the closeness to the central station.
I want to suggest a tipical Tuscan restaurant, very good also for the price Ristorante Fagioli - 50122 Firenze (FI) - 47/R, CORSO DEI TINTORI - tel: + 39 055 244285. Closure: August, Saturday and Sunday.
