Great vacation

I'm sitting in my room at the Ocean Sky Resort as I write this, sad because we are leaving in the morning. This has been a lovely vacation.
After reading so many bad reviews, I had hesitated before booking this hotel, but I decided to go with my own instincts and I wasn't sorry.
We've been here for a week, with two other couples and have enjoyed the stay enormously. Fourth of July weekend was busy here, but that was to be expected and didn't bother us.
The hotel is older but the rooms were satisfactory, the beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning was great. Since the building faces sideways, you look at the ocean from your balcony by looking to the left...or the right. That's the reason for the open connecting balconies, so that every room can see the ocean. Privacy would be nice, but seeing the ocean is better.
I loved the amenities that this hotel had to offer for such a reasonable price. A pretty lobby, cute little gift shop, wonderful pool, big clean hot tub, nice tiki bar and very pleasant restaurant. The food was great, although slightly expensive. The bartenders were so friendly and efficient and so were the valet parking attendants. Having complimentary pool towels available was a great perk so that I didn't have to pack space filling towels in my suitcase. And did I mention that the location on the beach is perfect?
My only negative comment is that the wireless intenet connecion is iffy. It rather comes and goes. Other than that, I have no complaints at all and would happily recommend this to anyone who wants good value for their money.

We just spent four heavenly days at the Ocean Sky. The location is incredible! At the end of our hallway there was an elevator that led directly to the pool area. (that was terrific because we did not have to worry about walking through the hotel or lobby in our bathing suits and it was easy to take a quick break back to our room if desired) The pool was clean and warm. From the very large pool deck we overlooked the ocean. A few steps led to a clean beach with great water, shelling, etc. There were water sport rentals right there too.
We ate at the pool side restaurant and the food was good and not very expensive. The tiki bar however was a little pricy. We paid $9 for a pina colada.
The staff was very friendly, respectful and accomodating.
Our room was a standard size but it was clean and comfortable and we liked having a frig and microwave.
There were many restaurant and store choices within walking distance (try Greek Islands - it was awesome).

My daughter and I spent the weekend at this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised at the warmth of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms and the BEACH!
As we were on a budget, the location of the hotel to restaurants, food shopping and souvenirs was a really nice perk. The restaurant and the bar were a little pricey, but we had other options which was nice.

Stayed at the hotel on my wedding night even after all the bad reviews. The hotel was an average hotel and did not disturb us from our peaceful stay. However, there was construction the second morning, but that was to be expected after reading all the latest reviews.

My husband and I were looking forward to staying in this hotel Memorial Day weekend because it seemed like a decent place for the money and the location was great.
The accomodations were ok for the age of the building but the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Part of the money they spent on renovations for the main lobby should of gone to the actual place the guests stay in.. "The rooms"!!! They have also neglected the elevators ( another very important factor ) as guests do not want to get stuck in an elevator on their vacation!!!
We called the beach elevator and after we boarded it we immediately knew that it was a big mistake. The doors were very beat up, slow and labored. When we arrived at the third floor, the doors would not open and we had to push every button to finally get them to open. The gentleman in the elevator with us got out at that point and proceeded to take the stairs to the 8th floor.
You're gonna love what happens next....we figured since check out was at 11:00 a.m. on Memorial Day, we would stay up a little later. At 8:00 a.m. on Memorial Day, we started hearing loud banging and heavy machinery outside our window. We had noticed that the roof underneath us was having some repairs done, but we never expected that they would be scheduled on a major holiday.
We think it is highway robbery to fully book your hotel and allow people to trustingly spend their hard earned money on a vacation without forwarning them that there would be construction going on that day. Thus, allowing them an opportunity to make an intellegent decision about where they want to stay.
The Hotel could of had the consideration of scheduling these repairs for the day after the holiday when most of the weekend people had already checked out This disgust.. I think was being expressed by an extensive number of guests that were checking out along side of us. Many negative comment cards were being filled out on that day.
We are aware that negative experiences happen to everyone but these are the kinds of things that should not be allowed to occur. If you are such a popular spot, the hotel should concern itself with quality assurance as well as the monetary end of it. NONE OF THE ONLINE SITES USED TO BOOK THE RESERVATION HAD ANY WARNINGS ABOUT THIS SITUATION.
UNFAIR!!!!!
My husband and I will definitely never stay here again and will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
