I haven't left home for a vacation in 7 years and wanted to go somewhere pretty and beachy to read, relax, swim, eat, sleep and shop. I also wanted a place with enough action to appeal to a 21 year old son and 18 year old daughter. After surfing the net for 3 weeks and reading the reviews, I chose Key West and Pier House. WOW! We stayed for a week and loved every minute! The location is for you if you want a glorious view of the Gulf and Sunset Key, sandy beach with a large private swimming area, pool, beachside bar and restaurant, secluded feel, family friendly, attentive staff, comfortable clean rooms and prompt, friendly room service. As if all this isn't enough, the use of the fitness room and hot tub at the Spa is free! We also splurged and had a massage which you must do when you go. It is worth every penny you have saved for this vacation. If you don't want to eat all of your meals at the resort (which are delicious, by the way), just walk out of the resort onto Duval St, and the restaurants, bars, shops, access to water sports, and museums are right there! Yes, the garden view rooms are undergoing renovation, but it didn't bother us. We had a Harbor View room and it was quiet. So, don't let that stop you. I would like to go back to Key West and stay there again. Maybe next time it will be a girl's getaway:)

This is really late, as our visit was March 9,2008. We traveled from Key Largo to Key West with our two 7 year olds to stay in a double bed room. The room was ok for just staying overnight. The room's decor was outdated. The crown moulding bothered me, but that's just me being picky. We had stayed at another resort which is much lower in the ratings, but we thought it was much better than the Pier. Stayed across the street before at another location and LOVED that place. This suited our purpose for being in the middle of the action, but I was definitely not impressed enough to stay here again.

This is a fantastic resort hotel with a great pool and beautiful and clean private beach (the beach is small but very lovely, and even has a topless area). The rooms are very nice, simple and classy, we just had the most basic room on the first floor but it had a nice patio. If you can afford the pricier rooms, go for it! Pier house offers a variety of rooms, some suites with balconies and water views, also the garden views are lovely I'm sure. The location of the hotel can't be beat, at the beginning of Duval St. near all sorts of shopping, attractions, great restaraunts and nightlife, but tucked away and lavished with gorgeous tropical plants and trees everywhere, very dreamy! We didn't eat too much at the hotel, however they have a variety of restaraunts, the room service was excellent...The best part for us was the pool and private beach...the pool has a nice bar and is enclosed within a tropical garden with gorgeous and abundant trees and a view of the gulf of mexico divine!!! We came to Key West to escape NYC for a long weekend and can't wait to return, we'll definately stay at the Pier House again

This hotel has the perfect location - right at the beginning of Duval Street and right on the water. They have a small sandy beach (even an area for topless sunbathing) and great pool area. We had a ground floor room with a small patio outside. We were within steps of the pool and the restaurants. One evening we even discovered the piano bar with a personable entertainer. You are within walking distance to Mallory Square, restaurants, and all the bars on Duval Street. The hotel room was very nice. The decorations in our room had a tropical airy feel. We had rented a car and drove from MIA but never used our car the whole week. Hotel staff was friendly and always spoke to us when we were sitting outside on the patio, the atmosphere was relaxing! Only downpoint was there seemed to be lots of construction (renovations?) on the rooms close to the water, but we were not affected at all by this. Definitely going back next April!
