Rough around the edges

I don't think any of the other reviews have quite nailed it. The Townhouse is rough around the edges but you could do a lot worse. I booked last minute and paid £60 for the night. The location is great for the city, SECC and west end. Parking is a bonus.
Staff were genial if not exactly professional "this new computer system has been a right balls up"!
The room was a let down, particularly the bathroom - mildew and dirt in the shower. We had room 1 which was downstairs and looked out on a nasty bit of wasteland. There was a noise during the night which I'm sure was a rat knawing and scrabbling at something under the outside wall, stamping on the floor seemed to rectify the situation!
If you're looking for somewhere to lay your head for the night then this could be for you, I wouldn't imagine you'd want to stay for a long period. It's a shame, with a little effort this could be a nice place, if i were you I'd keep looking and have this as a last resort. For £60 you can do better in Glasgow.

i have just discovered trip advisor so my stay at this hotel was some time ago. however after reading the other awful reviews i see things have not improved. I feel compelled to add my review as the experience will never leave me . I have stayed in all levels of hotels all over the world but this place is just downright DIRTY!!! the beds had not been changed from the previous guests and when we asked for new sheets we had to make the beds ourselves , the new sheets were full of holes. The man on reception was drunk and there were hundrerds and i mean hundreds of human hair everywhere in the bathroom on the carpet ......even recounting the place makes me feel sick . Don't go ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

A very disappointing stay: the room was large, but quite dirty. A couple of times we had to make the bed ourselves. The bathroom was also terrible, with a lot of problems (the sink was heavily leaking, and we could not get it fixed) and a dirty shower.
Public places, like corridors, were covered with dirty towels and bed-linens, put in large open sacs.
All in all, I would never recommend this hotel.

Not to be confused with the Town House

My sister and I stayed at the Townhouse last August. When I was planning the trip I noticed there was sometimes confusion between this hotel and the Town House B&B also in Glasgow (which is apparently fantastic). If you thought you were going to the Town House and ended up at the Townhouse, I can imagine you'd be quite disappointed. The Townhouse itself is fine. It was clean and servicable- definately felt like a place students and younger travelers would go. Bathroom was decent size and clean. No decor to speak of. In retrospect we should have taken a cab or bus from the main Glasgow train station. We took the subway instead and it was quite a long walk from the station. We ate at the restaurant just around the corner (can't remember the name) and it was fantastic. Breakfast in the morning was a little disapointing. The juice had a very odd taste and the food was just average.

I have just returned from a trip to Glasgow, on Sunday morning I wanted to go to church unfortunately I mislaid my directions. I was lucky enough to call to the Townhouse Hotel to look for directions. I was greeted at reception by a lovely young girl called Tina, who phoned someone to get directions for me and not just alone that but she had a fax sent with a list of all the R.C. churches in Glasgow.
I thought it was so kind of her, she went far beyond her brief. Well done Tina.
