We just got back from a FANTASTIC 4th of July weekend at Sole` East.
The weather was a bit overcast while we were there, and the beach was misty & grey... Lucky for us, we chose to stay at the Sole East.
We relaxed on the beds surrounding the pool, listening to great music & eating delicious food.
The gardens are lush & welcoming. The Hammocks are nestled discretely in the trees for a quiet book reading session. The restaurant was a delicious surprize... with a nice mix of fresh, simple foods & more complicated tasty dishes (the seared tuna over citrus greens was GREAT!)
The staff were open, warm & fun and felt more like friends then staff... and when we decided to finally leave the property to actually check out montauk... we were given keys to fun beach cruiser bikes to tool around with.
We honestly Could have stayed at the hotel the entire time we were there. The vibe is great... beachy & relaxing -- with a small nod to nikki beach.
Well done! We look forward to returning again soon!

We were pleasantly surprise to find beautiful and hip Sole East in Montauk. The food was great, pool and grounds outstanding. Our room was cozy and beautifully decorated in pure white. We walked to Fort Pond, the ocean and town with no problem. Lots of fun great for kids and terrific bar. We loved it!
A Wonderful Stay

Pros: Nice rooms (try the bungelows!), very friendly staff, nice garden area, great cocktails, comfy beds and shower
Cons: None really, but don't expect 5-star or 4-star amenities
Overall Impression: Loved it.
Ideally For: Couples without kids, with young kids. Very pet friendly. I didn't see a lot of single people but it could make a good place to hang one's single hat and go to the trendy bars outside the hotel.
Pleasant Surprise

It far exceeded our expectations. The staff was very pleasant & friendly and took care of all of our needs. The hotel is a modern remake of one of Montauk's original hotels. Rooms were clean and fresh--a great contrast to the tired, musty rooms more standard in Montauk. Each night we were happy to return to our luxurious, crisp bed! We really enjoyed our afternoons/early evenings relaxing by the pool and Backyard restaurant. It had a casual but "hip vibe". Judging by some of the complaints of earlier years, it seems that the management has addressed issues, worked out the glitches and now has "the whole package." Thanks for a great weekend!

My wife and I stayed at Sole' East this weekend and loved it. We have been going out to Montauk for years and are very happy that there is finally a designed, well-considered alternative on the east end. A bit pricey maybe, but if you want cheap, there is always the Montauket. We were in one of the 'bungalow rooms' that face the back yard, which we highly recommend. Given some of the other reviews we had read here, we were braced for the worst, but found everyone friendly and helpful. we were there the weekend before memorial day (technically 'off-season') so we will add another review after our next stay at Sole' in July.
