The hotel is small but extremely clean and well positioned in a quiter part of the city centre heart, no noise, no traffic etc. We were given a good size room with all facilities required. We can not fault this hotel at all which makes its smaller size aminities and bar area are irrelevant. We walked to every where from this wonderfully positioned hotel. Few good restuarants just round the corner from the hotel with nice food and choice (staying late as well, after coming back exploring the beautiful city of Rome so no rush to get out for food). The breakfast is plenty with all what you need before you start your walking. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. We had a great time at this lovely place and will hopefully back to it again. We strongly recommend it. Dr & Mrs Miz

I selected this hotel after using trip advisor. We managed to get the best rate from lastminute.com. from the trip advisor site. The price we paid made the hotel value for money. If you arrive late and need to use a taxi the most you should pay from Termini is around 9 euros, so be warned, we were asked for 15 from one of the "bad" taxis. The hotel is well within a 10 minute walk once you know where you are. The hotel is close to all the sites you travel to Rome to see, with lots of buses on hand to quickly whisk you to Termini, if you intend to walk to further afield. There are enough local restuarants if you return too tired from the day out to want to travel to eat. They are better in the back streets if you have a good look around behind Septtembre XX. The hotel rooms are small, with heavily patterned soft furnishings, but clean and comfortable. We had no hot water early morning, but it was no major issue as it heated up after breakfast! The breakfast was absolutely fine with a hot and cold selection. The only complaint I would have is there was limited lounge facilities, especially as it rained the full week we were in Rome!! The bar area is very small in the basement and lacks atmosphere. The best meal we had was at a restuarant opposite the Opera house, and it was a lot cheaper than some others. I would have been disappointed had I paid some of the higher quotes for the hotel, so ensure you get the best price. Overall it was a good hotel with no major flaws.

Stayed at the Hotel Gambrinus in September and although the entrance to the hotel is small the feeling you get is that it's like a tardis.....rooms go off in all directions. It wasn't noisy as you are away from the busy area. We got the bus from the airport (they mention this transfer on the flight and it's cheaper than the taxi)and this took us to the main station and we walked to the hotel from there and this took around 10 minutes.Good location, we walked into the main areas of Rome which took about 15 minutes, and the hotel was reasonably priced. The breakfast was ok, a fair choice of different foods. Very clean and the staff were helpful. Good little restaurant around the corner...and doesn't cost city prices. Good for a 4 day City break.

We had 3 rooms in this hotel, 2 doubles and 1 single. All rooms had nearly the same issues!
Please believe me when I say this hotel is one of the worst I have ever stayed in. There is no way it is a 4 star hotel.
The rooms are dark and decorated in the most disgusting colour combinations I have ever seen.
The bathroom: Dirty, chipped tiles, brown stains in toilet, limescale lines all over the sink. Oh and the toilet ran all the time so you have the sound of running water all night.
Peeling laminate flooring of the cheapest kind, which of course offeres no decent sound proofing if someone in the room above you is walking around in their shoes. Air conditioning does not work so rooms are unbearably hot - if you then open a window you are immediately assalted by the stench of stale tobacco smoke from a tiny 6 storey high, but only 5 metres across, walled courtyard filled with pipes, balconies and dead plants.
The breakfast was quite possibly the worst we had ever tasted, bacon and eggs were cold and greasy - they do not bother to keep them warm for you. The sausages you could break teeth on the bits of grissle in them. The bread and bread rolls were dryed out, tough and mostly stale. The 'fresh fruit' was straight out of a can. The croissants and cakes - well they put out about 10 of each and that was it so if you did not make it down early you did not get. The ham and cheese was so over processed and salty it made you want to spit it out! The yogurt had turned and was fizzy one morning - they took it away but did not bring out anymore. And finally the fruit juice was orange squash! I could go on but I think you get the picture.
There is one lift which is so slow!, it is not possible to go up stairs from reception as the doors to the stairs are one way only! So if like us you are only on the 1st floor you can end up waiting 5 minutes to get the lift up!
The only good thing about this hotel? - A nice looking lobby and the fact that they will store your luggage for you after you have checked out
