The property- designed by renowned American architect H.L. Stevens originally opened in 1924 and has already been recognized by Historic Hotels of America for its architectural significance. The refurbishment of the hotels 124 deluxe guestrooms and suites are complimented by a complete restoration of the hotels lobby- including terrazzo floors- glass display cases- chandeliers and wall sconces. The hotels Colonnade Ballroom- once a popular spot for special events hosted by the Shenandoah Valley society in the hotels early years- has also been restored and features graceful 20-foot arched windows- as well as the refurbishment of floors- antique light fixtures- moldings and detailed decorative ironwork that evokes a sense of Southern charm and spirit. The hotels mezzanine has also been restored- and is now the site of the properties famed 1924 Wurlizter Organ. This one-of-a-kind instrument has graced the hotels Colonnade Ballroom for three quarters of a century and- as part of the hotels overall renovation- has been precisely restored to its original condition and reinstalled in the hotels mezzanine- which overlooks the hotel lobby and Colonnade Ballroom.
