The hotel is basic but near to the public transport. I booked Cristal hotel via the hotel website which I believe is common for the cahain called fassbind hotels, for a 4 nights stay in July 2008. Later on I had to cancel this booking and emailed the hotel directly. The hotel replied that my booking appears to them as a booking through a third party website as the booking refrence number is not similar to theirs. I accessed the fassbind website and by using the same booking refrence number successfully cancelled the booking and received a confirmation email with cancellation number.
I was lucky to save and print this off, as I received a reminder email from the hotel during the current week to cancel my booking otherwise the third party website may impose a penalty and charge my credit card. I immediately forwarded the cancellation confirmation email to the hotel and have asked them to advise me of any further steps. But no reply yet.
The point to note is that the booking confirmation email was sent from the same email address as the one advising me to locate the third party website and to cancel the booking with them and the cancellation confirmation has been issued from the same email address.
My impression is that either the hotel management has some lost cases or they try to charge you credit card by giving an impression of a third party website deliberately. BE CAUTIOUS WHILE BOOKING THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE.

We stayed here on a stop over for our skiing holidays to France. After reading the average ratings on this site we decided to take the risk and book a room in this hotel as it was one of the cheapest I could find in Geneva (through Opodo).
The hotel room was nice and clean; including the bathroom. Perfect for one night stay!
Tip if you are arriving late and are in desperate need of some food: about five minutes walk from the hotel is an Italian style restaurant (near the church) and they serve freshly cooked food until midnight... (can't remember the name now, but the hotel called it the Italian one near the church!!)

I travel 8 times a year to Geneva and up to Zinal. Coming back I will either stay at the airport or stay in town close to the train station. I have now stayed at the Cristal 4 times and all have been satisfactory. It is a typical travellers hotel. Easy proximity to the train station, which takes about 10 minutes to get to the airport. The hotel is nicely located only a couple of minutes from the lake promenade and an easy 10-15 minute walk into the historic section of Geneva. The breakfasts (included in price) are very generous. A very nice touch is that a stay includes a free train pass to the airport. Simple, but nice. The staff is multi-lingual. The WiFi is not quite up to US business hotel standards, but is adequate. There is a Starbucks next door. If you need an inexpensive hotel in Geneva, this is the one I would recommend.

This is a simple hotel. The room tate was terrific for such an expensive City. It is literall 2 minutes from the Central Station. The room was very basic but OK. The area is noisey and suggest requesting a high floor room at the rear.

I stayed in this hotel for 5nights.The staff overall are OK, not friendly, more passive than anything. Theres one especially, a blonde with a goofiness about her who is so lost in space, she probably doesn't even know the name of the hotel she works at. She was the first of the staff we were greeted by, and when I mean greeted by, not a hello or good afternoon, more of a dopey half smile. I stayed in a double room right on the top floor with a nice view of the Geneva fountain. The room was reasonably clean, the chairs were tatty, the carpet looked like a collage of stains from 'I don't even want to know' we had to wear slippers everyhwere in our room, however, the beds and the bathroom were clean, minus a few recurring ants on our bathroom sink. The staff are VERRRRY slow in responding to any problems and are less than welcoming, the breakfast is nothing but croissants and orange juice and the there's nothing on the TV...its all badly dubbed in French (I know it's a 3star hotel by the way, but just letting you know whats on the menu!lol) However, the location of the hotel couldn't be any better, almost everything is in walking distance and its very convenient. I didn't have any problem with noise, probably due to the fact that I was right at the top floor. I must say that the hotel needs a revamp, strip the dirty carpets and remove the horrible chairs and get staff who know what they are doing! Would I stay here again, if I was desperate or for only a night or 2.
