The hotel was OK,, not good and not bad. It seems that there was a lot of difference between the rooms because we were staying here as a group and some people had jacuzzi's, whereas others only had a simple shower.
The district was not so fine. In the daytime the whole area is an illegal vending area, so all you see is cheap bags and sunglasses from China. The trainstation is right next to the hotel which is practical. There was no noise from the street, which is always great for a hotel. Breakfast was edible, but not high standard.
When I left, I left a expensive woollen vest behind by accident. I had purchased it back home and the pricetag was still on it. I called the hotel from the airport and heard that they had found it. They promissed to send it to me when they got my address by e-mail. Two e-mails and three weeks later, they were still pretending to never have received my e-mails. So I sent a fax, and they claimed they didn't receive it either. So I sent a second faxmessage and called straight away. The said they received my fax and were going to send my vest it to me straight away. I never received my property and when I called after that they told me to call back or not pretended not to understand or not to speak English. I can only conclude that the staff are thieving and lying.

We spent 2 nights here before travelling on to Capri. We chose it because of the location and this was great for us to access the trains to Pompeii and Herculaneum and also just a short trip away from the ferry terminal to Capri.
The hotel was clean and in a good state of decor. We had expected the area to be a bit rough being near the train station, this was the case, but we were careful and this did not cause us any problems.
I would not rate this as a 4 star hotel and the staff were disinterested although not totally unhelpful.
We had a huge cockroach in our bathroom which was rather unpleasant but given the present difficulties with rubbish collection in Naples maybe this was to be expected.
The breakfast was very, very poor. I asked for some cheese and ham and was told it would arrive soon, I waited 45 minutes - it never did arrive and when I asked again was told 'domani' (tomorrow).
Would not stay here again.

STAY AWAY! Grand Hotel S'ant Angelo - Naples

We booked one night at this hotel at the end of a month long trip to the Amalfi Coast. The location was chosen for its proximity to the airport and based on some good reviews here.
STAY AWAY from this place! Not only did they not honour our reservation, the front desk manager was ignorant and rude. His solution that we stay at a nearby hotel also owned by the same company was unbelievable. The "Palace Hotel" is a flea bag, wallpaper peeling off the walls, no lights in the hallways, mould, bugs and grime everywhere in the rooms. All of the info at the hotel was in the name of Hotel Mexico so not sure if it had recently been bought by the Palace or simply a way to lure unsuspecting guests to a dive.
We ended up having to change our flights to spend the night in Milan (thankfully we could get a flight out that day) to be able to catch the next leg back to Toronto the following morning.
The customer help lines for Expedia were of no use - none of the numbers listed were able to be connected from Italy.

Two couples stayed here on Saturday, September 29, 2007 before our flight back to USA. The hotel is high-tech and newly renovated, BUT there was no hot water both days and the air-conditioning was not working. There were three other couples complaining - but the staff appeared to not understand. It seems from the other couples that there hadn't been hot water for two days previously and the air-conditioning only worked in some rooms. This area of Naples is not the safest and one couple was moving because the safe did not function in their room. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant, but neither were open. We spent a beautiful 10 days on the Amalfi Coast and this was a frustrating way to end it. A hotel without hot water is not pleasant!!

We had 2 separate stays booked at this Hotel. When we got in the first night after a long trip there, we were told there was "a problem" and they had overbooked and were sending us to another hotel, Hotel Palace, owned by the same company. We protested, but they insisted and we were at their mercy. The hotel they sent us to was horrible. I will try to attach pictures. Mold on walls and ceilings, stains on bedspread - dirty and old, old, old. The next day we went back to the Hotel Sant'Angelo where we were robbed at a market on their sidewalk. Beware of venders selling electronics. The venders showed us them putting our purchases of various low priced electronics in a bag, we paid, they offered some other items, after we walked away and went to check our items a few minutes later, the bag was full of boxes of salt and papers and the venders were gone. The police didn't even care. When I spoke with the management at Hotel Sant'Angelo, they apparently were aware of the scammers, but hadn't told us. When we came back for our second stay, they had put a note up by the desk about them. Too little, too late. We lost $500 to the scam. Avoid Naples. Our whole experience there was really bad!!! On our second stay as we looked for a place to eat, we felt very vulnerable. The streets were full of men sitting around sizing you up. We locked ourself in our room. Hotel Sant'Angelo is not a bad hotel if you need to stay right by the train station on your way somewhere's else, if you actually end up there and they don't switch you, but I would only stay there if I had no other choice.
