This is just what we needed. We had a late flight and we needed a place to stay before we went to the condo. It was perfect for us. By staying in Kahaluli overnight we were able to get up refreshed in the morning and head over to Costco before our vacation began.(a little note on Costco. The prices are close to what they are on the main land and a whole lot less than the local stores like Safeway and Star Mart. So trust me on this just buy your items at Costco.) It is a older motel, but clean and kept up. We had a decent bed and good pillow. There was even a small fridge, but you have to turn it on. It did get cold quickly. You won't be disappointed with the place, although I don't know why they charge $5 for parking, I think it is just one more way to make some money. Looked to me like they had enough places. I mean come on when they build the place in the 60's or whenever it was I am sure they allowed one space for each room. This is not a new concept. So know going in what it is and you will be fine,

We had no problems at this clean, basic hotel! I felt at first like I had been transported back to the 1950s as far a decor. And, the fact that I had no hair dryer but an HDTV was really funny, too. That said, it was very clean, was safe, and was inexpensive. A friend of mine had booked this place, so I followed suit. We spent most of our days hiking, so it fit the bill for a good place to clean up and sleep at. We've stayed at the best on Ka'anapali, Waikiki and the Kohala Coast on the Big Island, and if that's what you want then you need to go there at four times the rate. But, if you're looking for near the airport, etc. this is fine. I liked that it was central to all parts of the island.

We arranged to stay here for the one night before moving on to our nicer plans. That being said, it's clean and fine for a night's sleep.
I was not impressed, however, with paid parking. Yes, it was only $4, but the idea was just plain dumb for approx. 20 parking spaces and three driving/security guards to make sure they park correctly. You don't have to park there, of course. You can walk all your luggage down 1/4 a mile over a semi-sidewalk and grass.
The other thing that completely blew me away was that the pool shuts down at SIX in the EVENING! Yes, there is the ocean (with not safe swimming near), but wow!
Would I stay again? Yes....for a clean place and a night's rest. I would never suggest anyone experience Hawaii by spending their trip there.

Although you're always warned ... "you get what you pay for" I thought this hotel was great for our purpose. We had a late late night flight, had to check out of our Ka'anapali beach resort early and wanted somewhere to rest, shower and walk the beaches one last time before heading for the frozen tundra.
I have already booked another room for next February when we return to our beloved Island of Maui. Our experience was great, the staff was wonderful and warm.
The bathrooms are a bit small, they could add an extra towel or two for showering, but if that's the worse thing that came out of our experience at this hotel, I'd say it's minor.
P.S. They WILL NOT give you your keys prior to 3:00 p.m., so if you think you can move from your resort @ 11:00 a.m., and make the drive to Kahului and expect to get in your room, you've been warned.
