Omiros Hotel has the location in central Athens, but don't expect much beyond that. It is on a relatively quiet street blocks from all the major attractions.
Room size was OK for this class, it was air-conditioned, and it seemed clean -- but we did have to kill one cockroach. The breakfast is awful -- tasteless coffee (in Greece!), minimal selection for food.
The desk staff conforms to the old bad stereotypes about Greek service: if they think there's money to be had, they can be friendly, but once they've got your Euros, they could care less. Too many places have come up to European standard for this to be acceptable any more.

We stayed for 3 nights and overall were satisfied. Its not a great hotel or especially charming but the location is good and the facilities adequate
The hotels web site shows exactly what to expect. We stayed in two different rooms both of which were clean so we had no problem there. Air conditioning worked well and there was a fridge to keep cold drinks in.The shower was the dreaded Greek style but we encountered this in so many hotels in Greece we got used to it. Its just an enclosure with a hand held shower. We found the front office staff friendly but they cannot leave the lobby unattended so don't expect help with your bags. An example of the small hotel feel came on ourfirst night .After dinner we nearly missed the hotel walking back but the man at reception recognised us us walking past and shouted to alert us to the fact that we had nearly walked past.
Breakfast is basic but again we spent 3 weeks in Greece staying mainly at inexpensive local hotels and got almost the identical breakfast everywhere. As one local told us the typical Greek breakfast is a coffee and cigarette. Smoking is a huge problem everywhere in Greece If you are very smoke sensitive I would stay away.Very few restaurants even have non-smoking areas, the ferries run out of non-smoking seats You just cannot get away from it.
One thing about the Omiros is that only a very few rooms have views of the Acropolis. We were lucky enough to get one for 2 nights. so they do exist .One of the web sites for booking promises a view . We talked to the owner about this and he seemed genuinely upset and said he had tried to get it changed. The hotels own web site makes no promises.

Worst accommodations I have ever stayed in!

My mother, daughter, and I travel frequently and usually enjoy our accommodations; however, the Omiros was the exception to our usual experiences. When we arrived, the man working the desk watched us, three women, lug our heavy suitcases from the cab to the lobby. He never once offered any assistance, not even to get them to our room. He was very surly! At least, when he went off duty, he was replaced by a pleasant man (one who agreed with our evaluation of the other worker).
We consoled ourselves with the promise of the hotel's view of the Acropolis. Maybe, if we had climbed up on the roof and extended a very long ladder, we might have had a peek at the Acropolis. The room was tiny and nasty. It smelled, and the carpet needed replacing years ago. We could have aired out the room by opening the window, but the balcony was so nasty that I feared germs.
Overall, the Omiros is the worst place I have ever stayed. We tried to excuse its faults by telling ourselves that we were getting a good rate. Ha! One night, as we walked back to our dump, we passed several other hotels, most within two blocks of ours. We stopped in at two, asked to see rooms, checked the rates, and discovered wonderful accommodations at very reasonable rates. Thus, we found that we were not only staying in a dump but that we were paying a lot of money to do so!
After seeing the room and before we unpacked, we asked to cancel our reservation so that we could move to one of the nicer hotels in the area. We were told that because we had booked through an online booking agency that we could not cancel.
Whatever you do, do not stay at the Omiros!

I stayed at the Omiros for 3 nights. As a single traveller with limited time, I wanted to stay in a centrally-located hotel. Omiros was perfect - a 5 minute walk to Syntagma Square and the X95 airport bus stop, and within walking distance to Acropolis, museums, Sunday market, shops and restaurants. The hotel is also in a safe area, so I didn't have a problem with walking back alone late at night. My room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good (I agree with the other traveller review - their yogurt is delicious!). The reception desk is open 24 hours, and the staff was very friendly and helpful, and even gave me a discount when I decided to book another night after my return from Santorini.
