The room was basic but clean, however.... it seems hotel is also used by locals for non-touristy activities. I guess this explains why the first three TV channels were porn channels. The hotel was also very noisy - during the night from hotel guests (you could hear much more than ever wanted to), and in the morning by the cleaning lady (slamming of the doors, yelling over the phone, etc.)

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days and needless to say were extremely satisfied. Both the room and bathroom were quite spacious and clean. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel is very well connected with the bus stop just outside the hotel and the nearest metro station around 10 mins walk. The hotel is also in a very safe location of Athens.

We were desperate to find a hotel during the European Football championship. We were lucky to get a room at the Athens City. We were apprehensive moving from a 5-star to a 2/3-star but were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very clean and recently updated. Bathrooms were new too although a bit small by western standards they were more than adequate. The lobby and breakfast area were clean and recently updated. The breakfast was a little skimpy, but adequate to get you going for the day. The air conditioning worked fine. Off street parking was provided through the next-door parking garage at very favorable rates. The area around the hotel was interesting with many local shops and we did not feel uncomfortable walking around at night. We liked this hotel well enough to stay there a second time 2 weeks later.

We stayed at Athens city hotel just for one night. Looking to be close to the parthenon and surrounding areas without paying much. We found a double room for around 50 euros. It was easy to access the hotel from the airport taking 2 buses, the hotel gave us directions and they were pretty accurate.
It is a small hotel like most of 2 or 3 stars hotels in Europe. The lobby seamed to be recently renovated and looked pretty nice. The area around the hotel didnt look very safe but we did not have any problems, even though we walked around at night.
There is a bus station in front of the hotel that takes you to Osmonia square where you can take the metro to the parthenon area... it takes about 10 minutes to get to Osmonia and from there I believe it is about 2 or 3 metro stations.
The room was very clean, European shower which is a pain for people West of the Atlantic used to having a real shower nailed in the wall, but hey that is the European way. The rooms are nicely decorated and they are very clean,
It looked like a family hotel until we turned the TV on were you could find a few channels showing stuff you wouldnt like your kids to see... I am talking hardcore stuff.
Besides that it was a nice stay, the people at the front desk was super nice and the price was good too.
