Having just returned from our recent trip to the Miramichi, I must say we were once again completely impressed with our stay at the Rodd Miramichi.
We have stayed at the Rodd in the past and have always been pleased with the level of service we have received, and this stay was no exception.
The rooms are clean and spacious and ours had a beautiful view of the Miramichi River. While we did not have time to make use of the swimming pool, we certainly appreciated the well equipped fitness room which was perfect for an early morning workout to start our day.
We had breakfast and dinner at the hotels restaurant and I must say breakfast was very good, and dinner was amazing (some of the best salmon I have ever tasted).
Great service, clean comfortable rooms, and amazing food - from start to finish the Rodd knows how to do things right.
We will definitely return.

I recently stayed at The Rodd in Miramichi and found it to be well above average. Very comfortable beds, super clean, great swimming pool and an awesome restaurant.
I would DEFINITELY go back there again.
The staff was also super friendly and helpful.

Did a walk in at this Hotel to check prices for one night stay. The rate was excellent and they accomodated my request for 1st floor, with Balcony, so my mother could step outside for a smoke. The staff at both the hotel and restaurant were excellent. The room was very clean and comfortable and would have cost considerable more at similiar hotels we have stayed in. The pools facilities were excellent as well. This hotel and staff were so good that on a return trip we drove extra miles to come back to this motel to stay. They understand value for money spent and appreciate your business, which are getting to be rare things these days. The hotel is right on the Miramichi River so it has great views. The internet was free and thye have a coffee maker and such in each room.

A “Signature Hotel”?

This property is part of the Rodd hotel chain, and is designated as a “Signature Resort”. If you read the description on the hotel’s website, you are given the impression that this is a luxury hotel that can justify its higher prices. Well, the one thing that this hotel had going for it was that it was in a town whose only apparent tourist draw was that is was a good overnight place to stop between Gaspe and Nova Scotia. Otherwise there was nothing luxurious or resort like about the place. Granted, the rooms were clean and functional, and ours at least offered a patio facing an uninteresting river. The restaurant specialized in seafood, but our dinners were underwhelming and very expensive.
If you’re passing through Miramichi and want to stay at a non-budget chain hotel, this may be your only choice. But, in our opinion the hotel and its restaurant is way overpriced for what you get.

I booked two rooms for two nights. A month before the trip, I booked the rooms through the Rodd website. I then called the hotel directly and confirmed the rooms to make sure they realized that it was two rooms. Both were guaranteed by credit card for late arrival and both were to be non-smoking Echelon Gold rooms with a river view.
When I arrived about 7:00 pm, I was told that our rooms had been given away, that there were no rooms left, and that we would have to go elsewhere and find rooms. They then accused me of not confirming the rooms. They also tried to blame things on the Rodd website and said it frequently made mistakes and it wasn't their problem. I then brought in my laptop computer and showed them the confirmations, the e-mail from the person at their hotel, and the attachments specifying the exact rooms - all from their hotel with the person's name attached. They then found two regular rooms on the first floor facing the parking lot and wreaking of smoke. Because of allergies, we could not stay in the smoky rooms.
After arguing for almost an hour, they found other rooms - but not the type reserved. We took them only because we had no choice. They also took less than $20 per room off the prices. It wasn't worth it and we never did get the rooms we reserved.
In conversations with other hotel employees, they told me that this is a common experience at this hotel and they always blame the guests first. One had transferred in from another Rodd hotel and was very unhappy because of the way the guests are treated.
The restaurant is good, but it can't make up for what the hotel does. And on top of that, they were really rude about the whole thing!
