Stay was July 5th - July 11th. 2 Adults. We had cabana #36 (Top Banana Cabana).
Beaches were absolutely gorgeous for swimming and snorkeling. Cabana itself was in need of serious updating (ie: mold on doors, canvas walls ripped, dirty pillows, light bulbs out, etc) There's more but you get the idea. We were definitley not expecting a "resort" type of stay and wanted that laid back feel, but we still found a lot of disappointing aspects.
Upon arrival it was SO hot in the cabana we called and asked that someone come see if the a/c was working. Nobody came. To give you an idea of how hot it was, we were sweating while brushing our teeth. On the flip side, the a/c did seem to work at night. The a/c can not compete with the heat during the day. That was one of our biggest complaints. We asked other guests and they agreed they had the same dilema. One couple told us they left after one night and went to Cambridge Beaches Resort b/c they could not take how hot the cabana was. So when 9 Beaches says they have a/c, take it LIGHTLY.
They also have a boat that comes in about 3 times a day during the week that is filled with people from other resorts. That was not fun! You can deal with it of course, but when you think you're at a private resort and then you get a beach filled with people taking the chairs, etc and the guests have no where to go, that was disappointing. If you have children, keep an eye on them. There is no supervision at the resort of any kind, so kids (including under age drinkers) can go nuts!
Staff at the front desk was outstanding, especially Laurie. Food was really good. There could have been more variety, but it was not a big deal. Most of the dining staff were very nice, but there were a few who you could see are really not happy. Maybe it's the heat everyday, but it was just too obvious that they are tired of their jobs. Again, this was only a "couple" of the dining staff.
I can't say enough about the beauty of the location. So many little coves to swim and snorkel in and it is truly gorgeous. I hate to come down so hard on 9 beaches, it was just our experience. Again, if we were to do just a review on the location and beaches, than it would be a 10+. But with the cabana's in mind and a few other annoyances, we would not go back. By far, the best place to stay in Bermuda is Cambridge Beaches. It's a bit more money, but it is top notch! Plus you get much more there. That has been the best place we have stayed in Bermuda and we have been to Bermuda nine times.
At 9 Beaches you will find yourself saying, "What are we paying for anyway?" It's really not that much more inexpensive.

Jul 11-13. Our trip was very short but memorable. We stayed in cabana 52 which was right over the water. My first impression as that I had arrived at a campground, which is what the grounds really look like and was concerned because of the the canvas walls and the tiny air conditioner in the cabana. We did not need the air conditioner at all and the beaches and views were spectacular. We spent our days snorkeling and sight-seeing so the daytime heat was not an issue. At night we just left the windows open and the breezes and sounds from the waves were wonderful and sufficient to keep us comfortable. The free breakfast was terrific and the staff very accomodating. It is a very different type of experience and is great for that romantic get away from everything type of trip. We did not exerience any of the smells that we had heard about from the farm, but our cabana was quite far from that area. Overall I would recommend this for anyone who wants a very relaxing vacation with beautiful views, wonderful snorkeling, water sports and quiet. My wife and I just loved it.
