Very Bad Experience at the Balmoral

I used to stay at the Balmoral when I was at University. However, have not been there for some years due to the last time I went having my bag broken into in the room.
Decided to give it another try. However, there seemed to be nobody else staying there other than us. I was worried about my luggage after last time so I kept it locked and left a light on as clearly it was their staff who tampered with my luggage last time. However, when I came back the light was off. So someone had been in the room.
The worst thing was that I was scratching all night and noticed what looked like bites on my legs and body. I raised it with the hotel but have heard nothing from them.
The water pressure in the bathroom was also very poor and if you lifted the shower above your head the water stopped. Hence you had to kneel down and shower yourself. I paid over ?100 for the room and feel robbed. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. However, the French do not do refunds so it is pointless asking for your money back, especially when it is a small independent hotel rather than a big chain.
Hope this saves someone esle from a bad experience.

Just returned from a weekend in the Balmoral - great location, right beside AirFrance coach stop and Metro. But after a long day of touring , its a disappointment to return to really uncomfortable beds. Also our ensuite just had a bath and a hand held shower. Other rooms that friends had - had shower and no bath.

A good hotel situated close to the Arc de Triomphe, this is an ideal base for exploring Paris. The location benefits further by being just 5 minutes walk from the AirFrance coach bus stop (Line 2), and the Paris metro. Surprisingly, given its location so close to the center of Paris, and the traffic of the Arc de Triomphe, the hotel is located on a quiet street allowing for a peaceful nights sleep.
The rooms are air conditioned and well maintained, whilst the bathroom was small but modern. What really makes this hotel stand out is the staff. Professional and courteous, they are always on hand to help you arrange restaurant / show bookings, offer advice on where to visit, arrange transport etc. They will provide breakfast in your room at no extra charge, and offer hot and cold drinks throughout the day. Once you have checked out they will happily keep your bags for the rest of the day. WiFi and Internet access is available is you need to stay in touch. The small shop on the corner of the street is a good place for bottled water, fruit and other useful items.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Lovely little hotel, ideally situated for the major Tourist sites. Despite it's location it was very quiet (barring the English group who kept us awake for hours on our last night) We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The staff were very polite and helpful, they spoke good enough English and were quite happy to allow us to speak as much French as we could remember. The only downside was the lack of a kettle and tea/coffee in the room. Found an excellent Restaurant around the corner on Avenue Carnot, highly recommended too.

When we arrived we were kept waiting for some 15 mins, the room was very small, and when asked to change room I was told under no circumstances would that happen even if I paid a supplement.
I asked to borrow an iron there was,nt one available!
I was also charged 9 euros for a glass of orange juice.
Very dissapointed.
