First things first. This hotel is not a five-star, or even a four-star, so you have to accept that you're going to get what you pay for. That being said, my friend and I were visiting Amsterdam last minute and on a budget, so we were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the rooms and the friendliness of the staff. Mike, who was working the bar and front desk during our visit, gave us a great map with all the high points (no pun intended) of the area as well as tips for getting around on the local transportation. The bus stop is a short walk from the hotel and for 2.40 euro, you can travel the 10 minutes it takes to get to the Central Station and then some (it buys you an hour). The beds were cozy and the rooms were clean. If you're driving, parking is free and is right across from the police station, so relatively safe as well. Wifi is also free if you travel with your laptop, but if not, they have a public computer in the lobby. All in all, it was probably one of the best hotels you can get for under 100 euros a night.

Good location, just out of the centre, bus stop right outside though where you can catch the bus to central station.
Free WiFi is good for business travellers.
Service at the bar and restaurant was very slow. Meals took ages to come to our tables, some items weren't available.
Rooms were clean and tidy. Nice shower and bathroom.
I wouldn't like to stay here for longer than the 2 nights I did though !! Definitely recommend going into amsterdam for food and drink rather than stay on-site.

Having listened to friends comments about more central hotels and the noise, especially from the trams in the wee small hours, we opted to stay slightly out of the centre and this was a good choice. It's only about 10mins on the bus from Centraal Station and the buses are very frequent with an hourly night service after midnight.
Check in was hassle free, just the usual forms etc and we received a warm welcome. Our room was clean and bright, very comfy beds, an easy to use safe, stocked mini bar and English channels on tv to catch up on the news. Apart from one or two fellow guests being obnoxiously noisy from 5am onwards (this can happen in any hotel) it was really peaceful and we slept well. The shower was a bit tiny and the room was extremely warm, those were our only niggles and both very minor ones at that.
We didn't bother with breakfast, opting to take things at a slower pace and have pancakes etc in town instead so can't comment on the food. We came back before midnight a couple of times and had a few drinks at the bar before going to bed. The drinks were very reasonably priced and the staff very efficient and friendly, especially the assistant manager Roiger, who helped us with our drunken Dutch.
All in all we felt we had got value for money with this hotel and would go back there again. We had no problems whatsoever with the staff, they do seem to adopt a no nonsense attitude to people speaking rudely to them though, and quite right too.
Having paid far more for much less in both the UK and USA this hotel was overall good value and excellent for those who don't want noise all night.
