This is, by far, the best Hotel we have ever stayed at in Europe. The room was HUGE...two room suite, full kitchen, two baths, king sized bed with what must have been 1000 thread count sheets and down duvets. Two huge sliding doors overlooking the lake, free parking, free wi-fi, great breakfast, great staff, great location. This hotel even has free movies in English (some of these you don't want kids to see so beware) I can't think of anything at all wrong with this Hotel. The biggest thing we had trouble with was the fact that we didn't arrive until almost 10 PM (Traffic in Germany, as usual) and there was nothing open to get supper. We backtracked about 6 KM and found a Golden Arches which was about the best Mickey D's I have ever eaten!!! (8 hours in traffic with nothing to eat may have figured in this) We stayed here to go to the Kuekenhof Gardens and I don't know if I have ever had a more enjoyable weekend. It is a little bit of a drive to Lisse but well worth it.

I have stayed in this hotel for 3 months for business travel. The hotel is located at the beachside and my suite has an excellent view of the Gooimer Lake.
The rooms are very clean. The normal room is ok and have a safe deposit box, flat screen tv and a big comfortable bed. However, there is no fridge. The suite are much bigger and come with sofa, a kitchenette, with some cooking utensils that are provided upon request. Most facilities are provded with the suite.
The staff are friendly and some can be quite helpful, and the hotel is a good and safe place to stay. Most guests that stay there are either business travelers or locals who go for a short break during the weekends, so the hotel is not touristy.
The hotel is slightly isolated as it is located near the lake but further from the housing areas, so it is inconvenient to get to the groceries or to restaurants if you do not have a car. The nearest bus stop is 10 minute away by foot walk.
Generally, I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel

We needed to get away and Newport was exactly what we needed.
The location was perfect, beside the serene Gooi Lake. No tourists around as it's a residential area and 30km from Amsterdam. Lots of charming villages to explore just 10 mins drive away - Laren, Blaricum, Huizen etc.
What made a real difference for us were the staff. From the first contact when we made the reservation by phone with Natascha until we said goodbye to Monique the manager, we were impressed with the hospitality, helpfulness and flexibility of the people there. The breakfast staff were cheerful and efficient, moving silently to clear and set up tables as it was full house.
In the middle of our stay there, we had to come back to Brussels, a 2-hr drive away, to attend to something important. Because we were having a really good holiday and didn't want to cancel the remaining days at the hotel, we decided to drive back to Brussels at 4am the following morning, and then drive back to Newport after attending to the matter. The night before, I mentioned this early-morning trip to Heleen at reception and asked if we could have something to eat on the way. She said no problem. When I called at reception at 3.45am, the night shift receptionist had ready for each of us a paper bag of sandwiches, mars bars, cereal bars, smoothies and even fruit. And a thermos of freshly-brewed coffee and 2 cups! We were really grateful and it certainly made our long trip at such an unearthly hour so much more pleasant.
Breakfast each morning was a huge spread including freshly-scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon.
The room was large and spotless. The bed was a wee bit soft for our bad backs but it was not a problem.
Thank you very much to all the staff at Newport. See you soon!

For the area I gave this hotel 4 stars. Compared to the other hotels around the world I've stayed in, it's probably not 4 star, but there are maybe 5 hotels in the entire region and if you want to visit the chaming villages and have high standards there aren't many options Web pictures are hard to find and if you do they are out-dated. The rooms are very modern and huge. We were upgraded to a suite overlooking the lake and our room beautiful with a gigantic bath, shower, seperate toilet, kitchenette, balcony... Breakfast was delicious and included. The lobby/dining room is also very designer with oversized couches.
I would highly recommed this hotel. It's a very short drive from things you would do in the area, but well worth it.

In a very peaceful location. The Captain Suites are huge, with 2 rooms and a kitchenette. You are automatically upgraded if you stay 2 nights at the weekend. All rooms have a view of the water from the balcony. The hotel is about 1/2 an hour by car from Amsterdam. A car is necessary here as there is limited public transport. At 140 euros a night, at the weekend, including breakfast, the rooms are not bargain cheap, but you do get a great deal for your money. Romantic and peaceful.
