We booked the Primavera Hotel online with a 'confirmed reservation' after reading reviews of numerous hotels in Stresa in its price range. The hotel has no parking on the property, so we left our luggage in our car and walked to the hotel. Upon arrival, the person at the desk (an older male) informed us that the hotel was fully booked for the night and that the room to be vacated for us was still occupied because 'the occupant had developed heart problems and been hospitalized, and all his belongings were still in the room'. We were offered a room in another hotel (Hotel Italie et Suisse) at the same price. We were shown a nice room overlooking a square and the waterfront, and quiet in the afternoon -- but as we discovered loud music was played in the square until late at night. (But do note, if noise is not bothersome to you, Hotel Italie et Suisse is a perfectly fine hotel and is more convenient to parking than Primavera.)
After checking in at the other hotel, we happened to pass by the Primavera Hotel many times (Stresa is a small town) and observed many people checking in. Obviously the hotel was not fully booked.
Our suspicion is that if we had showed up with our luggage, we would have been checked in. Had the person at the desk at the Primavera simply asked us truthfully to consider another hotel more convenient to parking, that would have been ok. But this person is deceptive and dishonest.
Primavera may be a perfectly ok hotel but - even if you have a 'confirmed' reservation - keep our experience in mind.

this was our second stay in Stresa at the Prima Vera having stayed last year as well. Hotel is good value for money located in pedestrianised area. Can be a little noisy up to midnight with the bar in the pedestrianised area below. Breakfast comprises cereals, yoghurts, rolls etc with juice and tea/coffee. self service so you can have as much as you like.
Hotel is showing a little sign of wear and breakfast room had difficulty in coping with large bus party of Germans.
Still good value for money and location excellent. Cheaper than other hotels in the area.
