Business, not leisure
Guest name: laurensailor, California
This hotel is meant for business functions it seems and might be more enjoyable during the summer for a vacation. But they had the power out for an entire day and only notified us the night prior with a note slipped under the door. The power came back on about 3 hours after scheduled. The rooms are small and not well furnished, very outdated. The bed cover is uncomfortable and smells kinda funny. Making our way to our room the first day, we had to pass by random pieces of furniture left in the hallway as well is bed mattresses propped up against the walls. After a few hours of trying to get the internet to work in our room, they finally switched us to a room that had better reception for the Wi-Fi. The internet is included with the cost of the room, which is a plus. And the front desk is very polite.
OK for vacation...

Unfortunately I stayed at the Brighton Savoy when I was in Melbourne for business. My company booked me there. Great hotel, if you were on vacation. There is nothing nearby. It's across the street from a nice little beach. The rooms are minimal and as others have noted, the walls are thin. Included breakfast was minimal.

Good service, but other problems...

The service was very friendly and helpful. However, the walls in this hotel are far too thin. There was a conference during the day and from my room (a deluxe seaview room) I could hear all the noise from this including all the conversations from the afternoon tea break! During the night, a couple in the room next to ours decided to have a disagreement at 3:30am. My husband and I were woken up and could hear this very clearly. The couple weren't yelling, yet we could hear their disagreement very clearly. Then at 7:30am (on a Saturday) the cleaners decided to clean the corridor/open space just outside our room which woke us up. The hotel is located in a great position, only a few minutes from lovely Church Street, but unfortunately there seem to be some significant structural problems with this hotel and I would never stay at the Brighton Savoy again and I would also not recommend it to anyone.
Nice beachside hotel - understanding staff

Stayed at the Brighton Savoy for 3 nights whilst my husband was having an operation at a near by hospital. Room was very nice, and the front desk staff were very supportive when they were aware that I was at the hotel whilst my husband was ill. it is a close walk to Church St Shops. Thankfully the operation was successful, and my husband has recovered

Beautiful view of the water , from our room which was called a deluxe seaview room with a double shower in the bath room.
free parking was a pleasant surprise , and well as free wifi internet, stayed in a hotel in sydney last week and paid almost $40.00 per day for both, so this represented excellent value.
Both the front desk and housekeeping staff very friendly and helped point out the local attractions
