n average hotel - complete amenities, comfortable, clean, impersonal, run-of-the-mill chain hotel.
However it is far from the town centre - at least 30 minutes - good - if you want to see Edinburgh from the top floor of a bus...
(N.B.The bus stop is just in front of the hotel).
As a consolation, the breakfasts are truly delicious and hearty (to set you up for that bus-ride!).

Added a weekend break at this hotel prior to a business booking for the rest of the week. This caused some confusion when checking in at the reception. The girl on the desk while, pleasant and willing help did not seem to be able to cope with this arrangement. Originally, allocated a standard room, a superior had been booked, eventually got a second floor room overlooking front of the hotel. The room was clean and stocked with fruit and small bottles of wine and water (also slippers and bathrobe). The public areas look as if they have been recently re-decorated but the rooms had a tired and well wore appearance. There is a self service breakfast - hot plate cooked, cereals, toast and chilled fruits - also, a coffee/tea machine. Large queues form quickly round the serving areas, particularly around 8am, when there are coach tours staying. Food in the restaurant in the evening was typical low standard hotel food, edible and not as interesting as it sounds on the menu. The hotel has plenty of car parking spaces and there are bus stops nearby - Lothian buses operate frequently to the city centre and are cheaper than parking charges. The hotel is in a residential area quite a distance from the centre of the city but close to the Gyle shopping centre and easily accessed from the airport and motorway.

We visited Edinburgh on February 2008 and stayed at Best Western Edinburgh Capital Hotel for 3 nights. We had made the booking through EasyHotel. We were two couples and our overall impression was above average. Very kind stuff, extremely helpful never let us down. The rooms were clean, the breakfast was typical British and offered a wide variety. Its location was ideal since it was very close at the airport and approx 6 km to the city center. We had a car and the hotel parking had always free space. Wireless Internet was available for free (!!!) but not all rooms got had a good reception. I didn't care since I just wanted to check my emails once a day and I did that sitting at the lobby for a while at night or at the restaurant during breakfast in the morning. The overall impression and experience was definitely above average.
