Just okay at the Colonnade

We stayed at the Colonnade for a week over the Fourth of July. The room was nice and felt very clean, but it was on the small side for two adults and two teens. The bathroom was also small.
The location was pretty good, it was especially easy to walk back from the fireworks on July 4 and we liked the proximity to the Prudential Center, Starbucks and Barnes and Noble.
Little details keep this from being a first-rate hotel, though. Our in-room safe never worked even though maintenance came up to fix it; they put a $500 charge through on a credit card ($100 per night) to cover incidentals) even though we never used them; random staff member came into the room one afternoon to deliver a Gatorade to the mini-bar and seemed to be shocked when he found us sitting in the room; we were charged twice for the wireless card even though we were I-Prefer members and should have gotten it for free. Nothing major, but little things that added up to make it a less than perfect stay.
The rooftop pool was nice and it was nice to have it as an option for a mid-afternoon break from the city.
Would we stay here again? If the rate was good. Otherwise, there are many other choices that seem like they may have been better.

Spent four nights with my family at The Colonnade in Boston. Loved the location with children. Rooms are tight but good experience with accomadations. Hotel service is ok, not great.

It was one of the hotels recommended by the conference organizers. The location is great, close to almost anything you would need during your stay: CVS, restaurants(fast food and sit down), grocery store(across the street), shopping center(across the street), on Old Town Trolley route and Prudential subway station is right at the front entrance of the hotel making it really convenient to commute via subway. The service is good overall. We had a problem with the bathroom door that came off from the track and they fixed it while we were out during the day. The bathroom decor was acceptable, plenty of light. toiletry provided is a plus.
What I find unfavorable are the amount of pillows on the bed. There were probably 8 of them big and small including actually sleep pillows. We had to take them down when we went to bed. If you love having a lot of pillows, this should be a plus. The clock on the bedside table was really bright blue light that it was difficult to go to sleep with it being on. So I faced it toward the wall. There was no microwave in the room, there was a bar in the small fridge mostly packed with beverage. This one is a standard, you pay for what you eat.
If you want to use an internet, you need to pay $10/24 hours. You also have to pay for parking. We parked our car there for 3 days and a half and it costs us about $140 as I recall.

One of the few hotels that I have given 5 stars. Stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed the experience.
The hotel has recently been renovated and it really shows. the rooms are excellent in every way. All mod cons, comfort, nice views. The bathroom was small but very modern and functional.
A crib was provded for my baby and I have to say it was better than any crib other hotels have provided.
The hotel has a restaurant and we were offered 15% off our 1st visit there.
The location is good and is in close proximkity to the Prudential and Copley shopping centres. Theres some great restaurants nearby too. Bear in mind that the hotel is a half hour walk from the main boston downtown area and the location is more suited to shopping.

Stayed a week for a conference at conference rates. Nice (but not perfect) features in room. Useful round table with two chairs, good for eating or working. Wired internet connection at table. Closet has a safe -- good size for laptop, very useful. Frig would have been useful. There is a pricey mini-bar instead :-( Lost satellite TV during 2 different storms, but service came back quickly.
Front desk was helpful and accurate whenever we had questions. (Many places have polite staff -- but they don't always know what they are talking about even in their own hotel!) Reliable bellmen, taxi stand.
Maid service was excellent and very, very quick. At least on 10th floor, they start servicing rooms around 8 a.m., fyi. No plastic "do not disturb" signs; instead, button to push near the door lights up signs for service or dnd.
King bed was firm, supportive and comfortable. Lots of pillows. Comforter and sheets very smooth. [After 5 days, did notice a few feathers/down from pillows at least. Agree with other poster that allergic folks might have a problem.]
The Cheesecake Factory is right across the street; popular Legal Seafood has location in Prudential Center too.
Tips: Join frequent stay program ahead of time, get pricey internet access for free instead. "I prefer"
Brasserie Jo restaurant in hotel has wonderful food and serves all three meals. Great steak and other French-accented dishes were wonderful choice when we got in late (10 p.m.) from airport. Couldn't have found a better Sat. night dinner if we'd taken a long cab ride. Attentive servers. Lots of beer, wine and cocktail choices. Also had killer eggs benedict made with lobster for decadent breakfast later in the week.
