My new wife and I stayed in this hotel for a couple nights thought it was alright for the hotel. The room was pretty good other then the air conditioner was a window mounted one and had trouble cooling the room.
The service at the front desk we found was hit and miss. Sometimes they were a little snotty and sometimes they were helpful. I found that they did not know the area all that well though.
Overall as we were out alot it was a good place to be able to sleep and go out the next day.
I did not find the hotel was in the greatest location, however, it did have a decent grocery store near by.
Great place to stay if you don't have too much money for your trip.

Want to stay at a property where you'll be treated like dirt and the management couldn't care less? You've come to the right place!
Booked reservations approx 6-8 months in advance via the Best Western website (when they were part of the chain), and obtained a discounted rate. Called both BW Central Reservations and hotel direct to reconfirm the reservation the week prior to our arrival. Upon arrival, I was told that they couldn't find the reservation and that the room was unavailable. I asked what my options were, and was told I had none without a reservation. I asked if I could use their PC to access my email to find the reservation #, but was told that I needed to go to an Internet Cafe down the way at Manuka shops!!
So, packed up my family and headed to the Internet Cafe, accessed my email and printed the confirmation. Returned to the Embassy and was told that my reservation # was valid, but had actually been cancelled by someone calling into Central Reservations the night prior (impossible, as I was on a 747 above the Pacific Ocean that night). After some haggling, I was told that the room I'd originally reserved actually WAS available - at the full rack rate (double the rate I had confirmed 6 months prior). I asked for the manager and was handed off to a REALLY rude fella (sounds like the same one referenced in another review) that told me I shouldn't have cancelled the reservation and that this was my problem, not his.
At this point, I was not about to pay this establishment a single dollar - and called around to book a room at the Best Western Tall Trees, for approx the same rate as I'd originally confirmed at the Embassy.
Bottom line: this location is nearby relatives/ideal for me, and I'm returning to Canberra in April for 2 weeks...but from other reviews it appears that absolutely nothing has changed. I'm again choosing to stay elsewhere even though not as convenient.
