A Gem

Perfect location in the center of Bologna. Charming decor and very comfortable rooms. The biggest surprise was that this was the only hotel to offer help with getting baggage to our rooms. A hard working porter could not have been more helpful and font desk staff equally accommodating.
It would not be possible to fault this hotel on location, service or charm. Bologna is a wonderful city and this is a wonderful hotel.

We chose the orologia for its position. It is an upmarket area shopping, bars and restaurants are all nearby. The staff are all pleasant and helpful.
Our room was a suite overlooking the front of the hotel (no.22) The living area had a comfy sofa a table and two armchairs, there was a mini bar the prices were reasonable, the TV was small with CNN and BBC news channels in English. There was also a radio.
The bed was large and very comfortable, with excellent linen, and faced full length doors which opened, as did the living area doors. To the right you have a partial view of Piazza Maggiore. I'm sure on a higher floor you would get a better view.
The bathroom was a good size and the shower not bad, though the floor of the bath was very slippery, there was not much space to put toiletries, there was a make up mirror, but not enough light . The toiletries were excellent, everything you could think of.
The hotel has no restaurant which is no problem as you are surrounded by places to eat, we were not disappointed with any meal. Unfortunately they advertise a bar, we like a hotel bar. There was a lounge where you could ring a bell and be brought a drink, we didn't bother, the atmosphere was funereal, though the room was pleasant. There is also access to to a computer which is free, but the printer didn't work.
We felt really pampered whilst we were there, all the decor is old fashioned but opulent .There is good attention to detail and everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained.

This hotel is much more than a three star. It is an amazing, beautiful place. I was pampered with a beautiful decor, robes, high end toiletries, a buffet breakfast with everything you would want, an excellent and attentive staff, service you would expect from a higher rated hotel. It was a bit of a splurge, but for the same price as hotels in Rome and Venice we got a golden apple with this hotel. The location is amazing, right on the Piazza Maggiore, close to gastronomical delights, shopping galore, and a fabulous food mart. I was one happy camper.
