This hotel is situated in the lovely left bank and is close to a couple of metro stations. It is down a quiet part of the Rue Des Ecoles but Odeon, Pantheon and Notre Dame are well within walking distance. It has a smart reception but the room wasn't of the same standard. It was small and the decor was clean but basic, dull and a bit tired looking. The bathroom's art deco design was cool but the shower went scoldingly hot from time to time. I expected this based on other reviews but was surprised by how hot the water got! I got this hotel at a great price so can't complain, but if I had paid full price I would have been disappointed.

My husband, son and daughter stayed here for 7 nights in September in 2 rooms on the sixth floor. Our room had the amazing view of Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame and a lovely view of a Parisien street. The bathroom was huge (almost bigger than the bedroom) with another balcony. There is no wardrobe space, except for a hanging rail in the bathroom and the room next door just had a peg. We shared the 4 provided hangers between us and used the suitcase as a drawer, but we got used to it and it wasn't a problem. The lift was efficient and the rooms were very clean. My children liked the free internet. Breakfast was variable as it depended on the kitchen assistant. Sunday and Monday were splendid with everything laid out and tidy tables but the other days were rather hit and miss with uncleared tables and less and less out for breakfast as the week wore on. But on a good day it consisted of cereal, hot chocolate, coffee, yoghurts, cheese, meat, jam, boiled egg, fresh fruit salad (the best bit and very popular). The night porter was friendly and helpful. Sadly, not the same for the day staff. Or at least the one I spoke to on our final day when I handed in our room key after 4 of us had stayed there for 7 nights. She didn't even look up and just said a curt "merci". But it is only 3 minutes from the metro and plenty of good eating places and patisseries nearby. It was in a splendid location. Would I stay there again. Maybe, because I chose it because of the things that are important to us.

Arrived at this hotel at 12:30 a.m. after a 2 hr drive from CDG. The only positive thing about this hotel was Olivier, the night clerk, who was very friendly and kind. The hotel was fully booked so I was given the worst room in the hotel, room 001 on the street level. Open the curtains and there are the parked cars and garbage bins for your viewing pleasure. You can hear everything going on in the lobby and there is a computer "room" (really a closet) just outside the door. There is a 5 ft long by 5" wide strip torn off the ceiling. The bathroom door is shiny with filth. The bathroom ceiling has blacky greasy fingerprints on it from where a repairman tried to fix the a/c and the bathtub walls have mould encrusted on them. The carpet is sticky and disgusting.
I asked for a better room the next day and the day clerk pretended to search in her computer for availability and then surprise! ...no room. Upon checking out 2 days later another clerk could not even manage a smile, goodbye or simple eye contact. I think she knows she is working in a dump and is not proud of it.
Spend a little more if you can and stay at the Pont Royal on 7 rue de montalambert.
