Booked this venue for my Parent's Golden wedding celebrations. This also included booking 7 rooms for our guests and the complete restaurant on a Saturday night.
Staff were helpful if not overly so, probably as well that I am a project manager as they were not hugely organised and needed some direction.
However the restaurant was laid out as I asked, the food was not bad and they tried hard to keep me pleased, which is not easy.
The feedback on the rooms was thay they are dated and in need of renovation, small but adequate - just.
Given the amount of money we spent I would have hoped for a more personal service but despite this the evening was a great success.
There are cheaper more modern places to stay in Warwick - old english charm is only good if done expertly and this does not tick the box.
Try the Hilton for good rates (but 2 miles out of town) , the Porridge Pot Travel motel (opposite the Hilton)or somewhere with rooms like the Rose and Crown (noisy).

If you arrive by car, your first sight of the hotel is the rear - a horrid brick monstrosity. Inside, the place has a "too much nasty carpet to be old-fashioned, too little taste to be modern" feel about it.
Rooms generally OK except all of the little things which don't work (shaving light, door handle to the bathroom).
Beware breakfast: you are allowed two slices of toast each only: no more! I was stared at for asking for more. None arrived. No marmalade, either: only blackcurrant jam. Bacon is grey and looks boiled.
I suspect it's all down to the inept and over-youthful staff (out of their depth) but ...
It's cheap, it's quiet. It's not for the discerning traveller and the fine town of Warwick should be ashamed of it.

We stayed at the Lord Leycester for one night. I had read other reviews on Trip Advisor and didn't think it sounded too bad. The rooms were OK, and clean. The walls, however, are paper-thin and we received complaints about our children having the TV on (although it was not loud).
The restaurant food was edible but we were not impressed to be asked "Do you want dessert because the chef wants to go home?" (at 9.30pm).
Then, in the morning NO HOT WATER! This is the twenty-first century! When we complained we didn't even get an apology.
The staff were generally rude and unhelpful and I would not recommend staying there.

My family and I stayed at this hotel on Saturday 23rd Februaury 2008. Our party consisted of over twenty people of all ages. Everyone had a really good time, all the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. As it is an older hotel you have to expect the odd creaking floorboard or the hot water system being a litle temperamental but this just adds to the character of the hotel. What made the visit for us was the couteous, helpful and freindly staff nothing was too much trouble for them from the manager down they were a delight and I would have no hesitation reccomending this hotel.

Unfortunately although I understood the hotel was old, we had no cold water for the duration of the stay (2 nights), I also have gluten intolerance and the breakfast didn't cater in any capacity for me nor did it for anyone on any healthy eating plan as the cereals consisted of all of the sugary types and the full english was a fried mush.
The Reception desk was often left unmanned thus resulting in guests having to wait to retrieve ones key.
I caught up with some other hotel guests in a local restaurant who had booked using the dinner, bed and breakfast package and unfortunately they dined the previous evening with only one other couple in the restaurant and had to battle with the waiter to order items from the menu as they had very little 'going' on the menu!
The room itself was OK and I really enjoyed the fluffy quilt and towels but the decor is in desperate need of redecorating.
The hotel is in a great location and I would only recommend it if one is literally only using the place to sleep!
