One of the most pleasant hotels

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in many over the years. The staff was extremely (and genuinely) friendly. The view from the balcony made me not want to leave the hotel. The complimentary food is great and is available throughout most of the day. It is perfectly situated for the following:
1. Ferry building for boats to Estonia (literaly right across the street)
2. All the cafes and shoping on the Esplanade
3. The largest mall in Helsinki
4. A famous church (forgot the name).
If your interested in going out at night and hitting the bars and clubs, you should prepare for some excercise (probably about 10-20 min walk to most of them).

This hotel was clean, comfortable and adequate. It was also much cheaper than a lot of the hotels we considered, as we got a package giving us the third night free. We were in one of the standard rooms, which was nice, but had no view.
The hotel's reception is on the ground floor along with the lounge, but the rooms are all on the 9th floor, which is a bit odd! Breakfast was good and there was also free snacks and wine in the evening time, which was a very nice touch. Our main gripe was that when we arrived (after 9pm) we were unable to get any food in the hotel.
Other than that it was fine, so if you are looking for a reasonable hotel in a good location at a reasonable price, this would be a good choice

First time in Finland, first time in Helsinki. What a world of wonderful suprises. Palace Hotel is ideally located for exploring by foot...the city is a small jewel and easy to navigate. We loved the haborside setting. Our room at the Palace was designed with every convenience, including blackout curtains to sheild the loooong days and very early morning sunlight. There was a charming breakfast room (afternoon tea was on offer too, but we were too busy exploring to partake) with a view of the islands, market square and harbor activities including a facinating fishmarket. A classy spanish theme eatery in the Hotel was a find, as we arrived late, and would have otherwise raided the well-stocked but nutrition challenged mini-bar. Most fabulous of all was the friendly and professional staff. Great recommendations, and unflappable courtesy...no matter how uninformed and lost our inquirys revealed us to be.
Hotel photos on most websites do no do justice to the sparkling restoration of a 50's landmark.
