The pictures of the hotel looked fantastic but if the rooms have been recently refurbished like it says on the hotels own website then god help us all, you dont get a proper quilt just 3 blankets, the tv is so old it doesnt even have channel 5.When it came to breakfast you can help yourself to cereal and orange juice but unlike just about all other hotels you have to be served a tiny cup off coffee or tea and you can just get up help yourself to more. However the staff were very freindly no complaints about them at all.Overall there must be alot better hotels in Bognor and the surronding areas.

We recently had a short break using a Daily Telegraph promotion at the Royal Norfolk Hotel, Bognor. My husband has advanced Parkinsons disease and going away can present difficulties. We found the staff very caring and in fact they arranged for a wheelchair to be delivered from the Red Cross so that we had one by the lift on our bedroom floor as well as our own downstairs. This was most useful.
Our bedroom was extremely comfortable with a view of the sea front. The bathroom was spacious and the excellent shower was very roomy. The beds were comfortable and the room itself was spotlessly clean.
We decided that the food in the coffee bar, which was open all day and evening, was better than that in the restaurant, but the service in both the bar and the restaurant was excellent.
We found out that the hotel had recently been taken over and had obviously been great ly improved by the new owners. All in all a most enjoyable break and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I think things at the Royal Norfolk Hotel must have moved on a little since some of the preceding reviews.
The "Royal suite" was occupied by my travelling companions while I had a twin (let as single) at the other end of the hotel. Both accomodations were spacious and beautifully furnished but NOT in the modern style which would have been completely out of character in this venerable building. The bathrooms, too, were roomy and well equipped. Our only complaint in this regard was that we had old CRT TVs - I think a hotel in this class should have the new LCD or plasma type.
The location is perfect for the beach and the town but there is enough surrounding grounds to seclude the hotel from noise or other intrusion.
Having walked in off the street, we were able to negotiate a good price for our two day stay but ,surprisingly, both this hotel and The Royal Hotel, nearby, claimed to be fully booked for Saturday nights into the foreseeable future although only half full or less during the week.

Needing to be in Bognor, we overnighted at the Royal Norfolk on a late March weekend. The hotel, which has the feel of far too many once-grand British seaside hotels, enjoys an historic and impressive facade. Doubling as a Christian conference centre, the lobby has some tracts on display, but otherwise its dual role is unobtrusive. The room was small for a double - badly organised with a miniature double bed and a wardrobe blocked by an armchair. The new-looking bathroom with a walk-in shower was more reasonable. Breakfasts were fresh, avoiding the dreaded cooked buffets of too many other hotels. The bar and cafe areas aren't bad (though the bar shuts at 11 and drinks must be bought from the night porter). Sunday lunch suffered from meagre portions. If you have to stay in Bognor, you may not have many options, but the Royal Norfolk should try harder, especially for an overpriced £110 a night B&B.

We stayed one night at this hotel in their Royal Suite - one of their 'best' rooms. At £125, it was appalling. The four-poster bed had lost it's drapes, the furniture was tatty and had seen better days, and the bathroom desperately needed updating. The wallpaper was pealing off the walls. We were desperately cold in the afternoon when we arrived and had to keep our coats on as the heating did not come on until 5.00pm, and there was no hot water until the morning. When we complained we were told there was nothing they could do about it.
For its excellent position, it is a bitter and expensive disappointment.
