I stayed at the Europahaus in September with my wife and 2 teenagers while visiting family. The hotel was chosen for : Walking distance to Railway, shops, eating/drinking and it's reasonable rates. The hotel did not dissapoint on those fronts, as all facilities are close by. With the exception of the famous "Centro" shopping mall, which will need transport to get to. As is the norm with hotels in this price range that are also close to a City, the decor and amenities are not luxurious. The rooms are spartan and "cosy", but clean, tidy and comfortable. Breakfast was a generous European buffet. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Being able to get a drink from reception at all hrs (at a reasonable price) was a nice touch. The Hotel is also quiet even though it is central. Oberhausen is not a tourist area, and the hotel reflects this more "business"-like ambiance. The entrance is more like a low-rent apartment block with the reception being on (I think) the 3rd floor. There is a good sized lift though. If you are not worried about views or "ambiance" or big rooms, and prefer to have the convenience and comfort, this Hotel will do the job fine.
